• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 3/7/2009 Mobile Car and Bike Show

thats fine by me. Like I said, I dont have a lot of experience setting up/leading a ride.

I bow to you either you or sabunim. You guys got more miles on a spyder than I do.

Talked to one of the promoters of this show, this evening. When his son told him, he was excited about the Spyders being there. He said we could enter if we wanted to (cruiser or street bike class is what he thought we might be in). He said we could just set up all our bikes together to show off. So, we enter if we want, otherwise, we get to show our spyder pride.

we can finalize the route soon - any ideas about the time you want to arrive in Mobile.

also I sent a PM to Aubierules and he said he would try and meet us there.

the show starts at 9am... registration at 8am...
takes 45 min to get there?

i dunno... what were yall thinking?

Now you need the "little blue pill" LOL

Any time is ok with me - just let me know when you want to meet.

I say, Parking breaks off at 8am should get us there by 9am.

"Parking breaks off..." doesn't sound as cool as "Kickstands up..." but we don't have Kickstands.

>>>>of 8:00AM at the east end of the Bayway/Causway? It takes me about 25 min to get from Fairfield and Lillian (Pensacola House) to US-98 and Greek Cemetary (Farm) and about 45 from there to the Bayway. We will leave the farm about seven and should be there when you are ready to go. Will get on the interstate at AL-59 westbound.

Will run over to PMS today and see if Jim has come up with a poster to put behind our windscreen to tout the Spyder.

Wish I could make the gathering tonight but better take care of our selves.

We will be Leaving the McDonalds at PineForest Road and I-10. We should get to your exit in 30 min? I dunno, never rode it on bike. Which exit is that again?

Coyote (Shunkmanitu) is talking about meeting him at the east end of the Bayway. That is the Daphne exit just before the long bridge. If we meet there and ryde across the Bayway - we can get off at the Downtown Mobile via the Bankhead Tunnel exit.

From Pine Forest Rd exit - 7 miles to Fla Line then about 37 more to Daphne so I would say to be sure of our times - departing the McDonald's no later than 7:AM. 45 minutes to Daphne.

After everyone says their Hello's and meets everyone - we can head to Mobile - Grelot Rd should take about 20 -25 minutes baring any delays by people gawking at the :spyder:entourage.

So if we leave Daphne by 8:20 AM we should be at the show about 9AM.

If this looks okay we can plan on these times and plan on meeting at the McDonald's between 6:45 - 7:00AM.

Mobile

I'm not sure if I will make the ride into Mobile with the group. 99% sure I will be at the show. I have a great idea for Halloween that I will share with everyone at the show.

I sent you a PM several weeks ago. Saturday 3/7 is my birthday but right now we plan to go (1 Spyder & 1 Kawa Concors). That is weather permitting - no rain and not freezing. Since we live in Seminole we could ride to Robertsdale and meet up with some others there, just tell me where & when.

As I understand, there is no charge to attend, but $20 to register, is that correct? However I don't plan to register, just attend so I can meet some of the folks on this forum over there.

The wife and I will be meeting you in Mobile. Not willing to get up that early on a day I don't have to work. See you there.

thats cool

I like to sleep in on saturdays too. I am not really big on getting up that early but I wanna make sure I get there when they open to secure us our spot.
Everyone is welcome to meet up there. If ya miss the ride up, we will always have a ride back

Hey Folks,

First, sorry for the long post, but since this seems to be a new show to yall, I thought I'd throw some cents in. I help run the show mentioned and I run the website for the show. I happened to see some hits from this post in the site stats and have quietly been lurking along, hope that's ok. Mainly if anyone had any unanswered questions.

I hope some of yall can make it, just for me to see one of these rides in person, never seen or heard of one before this. Everybody that comes and supports the show is appreciated, and the proceeds from the show benefit a great cause, the United Methodist Childrens Home.

The Home provides support for abandoned children, unfortunate teen mothers, etc. I've had pleasure in meeting those who run the home, as well as many of the children/teens being supported by the home, I'd donate more than a day out of my life anytime to help.

With that, I'll try to give you a heads up but DONT quote ME, things like to change at the last minute. Below is a map of the church lot (outdated by Google, updated by me). The area in black in the Main Lot is where the bikers typically setup. We usually only have a handful of the same bikes show up (10 +/-), this is where they like.

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mobilebadboy/showlot.jpg

BUT, there is NO real designated area. Most people like to park together -- friends, groups, clubs, etc. That's why you fill out information when you register to identify HOW you want to be judged, not where you're located to be judged. Then people are kind of free to park wherever. We learned that the hard way. So there are no guaranteed spots.

Some show up at day break, not too many, but a few, to secure a spot. Real traffic starts flowing in around 7-8, and it continues throughout the day. The Main Lot is usually close to full by around 10-11 (with judging starting at 11). If you want a full area in the 2nd lot, use the email below (before Saturday), I'll make sure it happens. We make sure both lots get attention, but of course, people tend to go to the Main Lot.

If you want to be recognized as a club, please make that known when registering. If there's no official club name, I don't care. Come up with one, Spyder Lovers, etc, just make it [consistently] known when you register (if you are waiting til the day of).

If there are any questions, email me at shawn at mobilecarshow.com.

I'll more than likely be guiding you in, I'll be the 6'5", 'bald' guy with glasses. Can't miss me.

Shawn

Gulf Coast Florida/Alabama Spyders first ride and gathering was a success.

Littlebit and I, met with wbbrn1952 at McDonalds on pine forest road a little after 7am. We then met up with TONI and her husband in Alabama and continued over to the car show.

Bill (wwbrn1952) did an excellent job setting up the route.
The ride was great.
We set up at an adjacent lot to the main lot but you could not miss us as you came to the show.
We had a total of 5 Spyders at the event.
TONS of people taking pics and asking questions.
Will post the pics I took later.

It was great meeting all of you. Littlebit and I had a great day with all of you.
We look forward to an active riding season
