• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Discovered extra 12v port in frunk 2013 RT

Hi all, I was hooking up my battery tender Junior permanently today on my 2013 RT. I was using the alligator clips in the left hand access panel in the frunk. So I decided to hook it up permanently directly to the battery. On the 2013 RT models right next to the battery cover is a round rubber grommet, I hooked the leads directly to the battery and came out through the rubber grommet into the frunk. While in the process when I had the battery cover off I noticed a rubber connector with two wires inside one purple one black with the wires just rolled up inside the rubber connector not terminated anywhere. I called the dealer and they said that was for a 12 V accessory port in the frunk that would go where the rubber grommet is that I pulled my leads through. Hopefully this is new information and is useful to those with a 2013 RT.

That's been available for a while... Thanks for pitching a reminder in here for it!
When my '14 gets here; I may just have the dealer "sneak" an outlet onto those connections before the Missus knows that they're even there! :D

I posted a picture of the location a few months back.........

Don't be..!!

it's old news to some, common knowledge to others but still new to many..like Bob said thanks for the reminder..!!

I have wanted to install one of these, but have been too lazy since I think you have to take the frunk off to get the nut behind the socket. One day....

You know, I installed the front power outlet and have yet to find an actual use for it? I should have added it in the rear to give me 2 cause the one I have has a USB adaptor shoved in it.

In my trunk I have a three outlets splitter and the USB adapter fits in one of the sockets leaving 2 free. It is one of those that looks like octopus, that is the three sockets are on the end of wires. A little heavy duty velcro secures it to the trunk wall. If anyone cares I could post a picture of it when I get back to town.

This IS something new to me...

... I just got a 2013 RT Limited recently and I have read the operator's manual, I don't think it says anything about a front 12V outlet... I have to go and check it out...

I have a 2013 RT-S and it is there. You do have to lift the liner to find the plug.

Good news and bad news....

...first, the good news... yes, found the rubber plug covering the hole meant for a power outlet, the wire connections are just behind the hole, but if you need to use it, you have to install a socket yourself, and you either need to jack up the :spyder2: and/or remove the frunk to do it... I think I left it as it is for the time being unless I need to power up something in the frunk... Thanks for the tip everyone...

Now, the bad news... I suppose the RT Limited is equipped with a frunk light isn't it?... well it is there, but it's not working... I suppose the dealer did not make the connection for it to work... any ideas where the plug might be?... if not I have to do some time consuming investigative work taking apart panels to find it... or I wait for the 1K service and have the dealer rectify it.... Thanks again... and have a very Merry Christmas everyone.... Cheers....

The trunk light (weak as it is) only works when the engine is running.

You can get to the harness for the 12v plug by removing the battery cover. When you take the cover off the harness is right there. No need to jack the bike up or take apart the frunk. You do have to supply your own socket. Merry Xmas to you also.
