Belt tension diffrence for 13 models and checking with Krikit II

I found some pictures on here that Lamont posted using a Krikit to check tension on a drive belt. I think the model he was checking was his 2011 RT and he made a mark on the krikit tool where he got the tension. I got my Krikit tool today and was playing around with it cause my 600 mile service was recently done so my belt tension should be ok, I checked my belt with the tool and noticed I got the same reading as he had marked on his? I thought that the 13 model RT got a much tighter belt than the prior years shouldn't I have got a higher reading on my Krikit tool? ( my Krikit showed 240 lbs.)

A little on the high side, but close enough using the Krikit tool. 1050N = 236 LBF.

I'm not sure what video you were watching of Lamont's, but I don't think many people run that high a tension number on the 2012 and older Spyders. I believe mine is right around 160 on a Kricket gauge.

It was not a video, it was pictures in one of his albums. I have not been able to find that pic again.... dang it!

Ok i'd say that was pretty good then. It's not real easy to pinpoint "exactly" where the little black lever is on the Krikit but it was real close to the second mark past the 200. So if I ever need to make an adjustment to the belt then if I get it back to the same mark on the Krikit I should be real close to the correct tension, right?

tool to tool bike to bike. Once you have your belt adjusted measure it with your krikit and mark it for your bike. This more than likely will vary from what others have but there are a lot of variables involved. Just measure it the same way each time and you will be fine...!! :thumbup:

Great! Then this tool is going in my "flat tire bag" and hopefully I never need it!!
