• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thinking of buying a Spyder can-am, help please...

:welcome: Go for the 2012's RT-SE5, if you know a friend that has a :spyder2: try it first, and if their is a Can-Am Dealership in your area rent 1 first. I bought a 2012 RT-SE5 last year brand new, I have been riding motorcycles(Honda's, Yamaha's Kawasaki's,) for 16 years as passenger, so last year I decided to buy a Can-Am :spyder2: . So a friend of mine said to me " Why don't you buy a Can-Am :spyder2:. The :spyder2: 's are fun to drive, and you get people asking you questions about them where ever you go. Deanna777

Fact or Fiction?

stay away from the 2013 model year .the problems are real , thats why they have all been recalled .my model year is 2009 , i have done 920.00 worth of repairs so i cant recommend that year either .the most trouble free year seems to be 2012 .but these machines are not at the quality level of japanese bikes .you are going to have annoying problems .hopefully they will improve the quality control because i really enjoy my spyder .i just would like to be able to trust it more .

All 2013 have not been recalled! :read:
We have a BEAUTIFUL pearl white 2013 ST-L that we have had no real problems with. Yes we took it in for the basic services and adjustments but we LOVE our 2013 ST-L and would not change our purchase for any other model at this time. I would have to agree that it is about personal choice, your bank account and a GOOD dealer/service department! Do your research and pick your :spyder:you will not be sorry! :2thumbs:

love my spyder but beware. you can get one with problems like i did. 09 gs with 18 month in shop, some caused by uneducated, incompetent shop.
i said it before and i can say it even now, "when it's not in shop, this is the best ride ever" :)
AAA helps. i used it 8 times for my spider for tow, almost 60k miles.

oh yea, my front sprocket went out again for 4th time yesterday.

if you have not got a recall notice then go back to your dealer and make sure it was done .this recall applied to all ST models , dont know about the others .even people who did not notice excessive heat found melted evap cannisters when the recall was done .as for my comment about japanese bike quality , most of you seem to misunderstand .i rate japanese motorcycles as having better quality than BRP .i have had 5 honda and 1 suzuki and a yamaha Grizzley ATV that never saw the dealer for warranty work .when the plastic gears that spin the oil pump failed , the spyder was in the shop for 10 days , most of it waiting for parts .the repair only took a day .the other problem i had was a gas leak on the return line to the gas tank .that was a leaky plastic fitting that i replaced with a tighter fitting made of steel .i dont see why any one that has done their homework woud buy a 2013 when NOS 2012's are still available .my problem is i just do not trust the spyder to go on long trips .i am not retired , so losing time to repairs during holidays is not acceptable .i have never owned a harley either , maybe they are better now but i will not risk it .
