most people worry about their battery's dying on them, in my post on frunk opening by remote http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?56612-frunk-opening it was mentioned that some rt's have problems with dead battery's now for the people that have a cigaret lighter or 12 volt power outlet on their bike i carry one of these they last for 5 years and have had them on all my bikes and cars just in case, so if your interested take a look it is worth the money http://www.clickerslickers.com/car_battery_charger

Wasn't aware of any "battery problems" other than normal life expectancy or the battery was flawed (and I think that was probably one report).

But is the lighter outlet in the trunk ok for that? Mine gives a message on my cell? won't charge it. Dealer says it's hot should work is it on a breaker or what?

What year bike do you have? The older RTs had that 12 volt port in the trunk "hot" all of the time...
The 2013s don't... but you can move a fuse, and have it powered just ike the older bikes if you need! :thumbup:

The message on your phone is because of the charger not the outlet. Lots of power on the outlet to charge a phone.

Your 2013 RT has a 10 amp fuse and would guess it will work. 2012 and earlier RS/GS have only a 3 amp fuse and I don't think that would work, but not sure. Not sure about 2012 and earlier RT's.

Wow, Some are over thinking as what they have to carry with them, I think it would easier to have someone follow you around with a pickup truck every time you go for a ride, And carry a complete repair shop in the bed for ease of mind...

2012 RT A&C Bob, just not quite so farkled as yours but I'm working on it! :doorag: which fuse is it? and is it the fuses under the seat or in the frunk? I've used 2 different charger plugs for my phone weird. should have written the message off the phone down.

seems like something to consider when traveling the back roads. For the price it is a little insurance. But also true at the rate they come up with these gadgets you would need a trailer to carry them all...:roflblack: I trust my ryde...!! plus we can push start...

You should see what we carry on our pedal bikes when we go on long rides... :shocked: 2 water bottles, camelback, innertube, tire patch stuff, powder to put in the water, snacks, slip on shoes for when the bike shoes come off, first aid kit, rain jacket, several other thing I am forgetting... basically if we needed it once, it goes in the pack... sort of overly paraniod and ocd in the supplies dept. I am positive our rides would go much fasyer without all the extra weight. :roflblack:

Haven't started to load the Spyder up yet but when we do we probably won't have room for clothes and have to get a trailer.

There's always stopping by Walmart and buying clothes that will work for under $20.00. Throw away the dirty ones.

I am more than skeptical that the battery pack I see can start our bikes, let a lone a car or truck as advertised, especially after 5 minutes, lol. At 15 amps a standard battery charger can take quite a while before it has pushed enough electrons back into the vehicle battery to attempt a start. I think our bikes outlet in the trunk is limited to a 10 fuse as well so that would make charging it at the necessary rates to accomplish a boost in just 5 minutes impossible any ways. I have a 100 amp quick boost on my sears charger, if my truck runs low due to leaving my GPS on for a week it takes several tries to just turn over unless I leave it for 10-15 minutes on the quick boost.
