There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. bump skid plate

Has anyone experienced the benefits of a bump skid installation first hand, and have you notice any other advantages, besides the obvious. Would this be money well spent?

I've "bumped" more than once so I think it's worth it. The last time was due to the high center at a light due to the tire ruts on the road.

Turning into a drug store got a good bump and have the scratches to prove it on Spyderopop's plate. I guess the front end is about the same height as a Corvette air dam had the same issue with that scraping. Spyderpop's protects and stiffens the front end by tying it all together. Money well spent IMHO. Plus it just looks cool sorta like a Nascar splitter:thumbup:

Wouldn't be without one!

Was forced off a driveway, into a ditch. High centered on the rim of the ditch, but incurred absolutely no damage to the Spyder. The BumpSkid took the weight of the Spyder, and protected the steering mechanism and the body. A very good investment! It really 'saved my bacon". CapNCrunch

:agree: Farkling should be an Olympic Sport... :D

 As I sit here with my seat off waiting for my Utopia BR to be delivered. I even have everything measured and marked including my first ( little so far ) cut to the seat. UPS needs to go faster :banghead:

I think it is a great mod. It looks good and it works great. If you need it just once it will pay for itself.

Good Stuff!

My daughters driveway is steep and unpaved. Large (cobble size) rocks keep the smaller stuff in place. Wouldnt take Spydie up the driveway without bumpskid (and proceeding slowly and cautiously)

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Go on, spend the $$$, can't take it with ya!!

I felt the bump skid plate was so important that it is the first major addition we are making to our Spyder. I went to install mine this past weekend and discovered that I was missing two side brackets. I called Spyderpops at 8:15 in the morning and explained what was going on. By mid-morning I had already received an email showing the missing parts were shipped. Missing parts arrived on Monday. Now that is service!

Got home tonight and did the installation. It took less than 1 hour and looks great. I am very impressed with the quality of the product and also the service received.

I would say "GO FOR IT"!

Installed bumpskid about a month ago....

Hello,

I installed the bumpskid about a month ago before a 1500 mile trip. During the trip, I know there were some dips and high spots that may have hurt the plastic without it (like speedbumps, holes, roadkill, etc.). Here's a photo of the bottom. Just a few scrapes. The orginal piece of light plastic is NO skid plate. I did this for prevention. I have not "bumped" it yet, just had a couple small scrapes on the bottom after about 1 month. Good luck in your decision!

BUMPSKID

No, the back of the plate stops before it covers the oil drain plug and engine drain plug. I added a bumpskid about two weeks after I bought my ST-S. Great investment, as it has prevented me from scratching up the bottom of my Spyder.:yes:VisitedStatesMap.jpeg

Bumpskid install and location

Does the bumpskid have to be removed to change engine oil?

NO...you can change the oil with the bumpskid. It is up front under the frunk and does NOT impede your work for an oil change.

Bumpskid requires drilling. I also elected to grind off some high spots on the lower part of each wing for a better snug fit.

I took by time, put the bike up on ramps, and it took a few hours to complete. I do my project slow and insure I am doing them well. Being retired helps!!!

Good luck with your bike!:2thumbs:

Great..!!

Aside from the obvious the outer edges sweep up helping air flow to the radiators on either side of the roadster. It does enhance the look..one of the best investments you can make..!!

The bumpskid and the spyderpops missing belt guard were the first two mods I did to my Spyder. I don't regret either!:thumbup:

The Bumpskid, a set of top shock mount relocation brackets, and an Ultimate seat are the top 3 items on my "gottahave" list...
