2013 Roan Mountain Festival, Sat-Sun after Lamonts BBQ

The Annual Roan Mountain Rhododendron Festival is the same weekend as the BBQ this year and is definitely worth the side trip for anyone looking for something interesting to do after the BBQ. There is great riding all around the Roan Mountain area and a trip to the top of the mountain gets you up over 6,000 ft elevation where the flowers should be in full bloom.
