• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Left the little cafe where I have breakfast and was putting on my helmet when a guy pulled in beside me on a Gold Wing Trike.

"You driving that P..... O..... S......", he questioned?

"Kinda looks like it", I replied. Whereupon he began to tell me of the top of the line Can Am he purchased and had to get rid of after 1,000 miles.

He told me he took a $5,000 loss on the Spyder when he traded it in on a two year old Gold Wing trike and even then had to finance the difference between the two machines.

"It was awful", he groaned. "How can you stand to ride a thing as underpowered as that?"

"I've owned Harleys with just two cylinders that had twice the power of that thing, and with the Gold Wing there is no contest! Then when I went to the dealer to complain, the guy there tried to tell me how to ride. Can you believe that? I been ridin' for thirty years and this pipsqueak is tellin' me how to ride."

"Exactly what did he tell you" I asked?

"He told me that I needed to rev up the engine more to shift.... told me to get up to 4 or 5 thousand! The damn thing sounds like it will blow up when it runs that high. I always try to get into the highest gear possible as quick as I can to save gas... not gonna run my engine 'til it sounds like one o' them Jap bikes."

"Uuhhh, the Gold Wing is a Japanese bike", I said.

"Nah, they told me it was made right here in the USA", he replied.

"Well I hope you enjoy your Gold Wing", I said.

You can't save them all!

You can't fix stupid...
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes it's fun to play with them a bit...
Mention that:
you've been ignorant your entire life, and this contraption only confirms it to others!
You needed to spend the bank account dry, before the soon-to-be ex-wife found out how much money was in it
You finished second in a contest and got it for your efforts
You always wanted a Trike, but your dyslexia got the best of you
Show them the "200" on the speedomoeter; tell them that it's calibrated in "Parsects"

There will always be people like this but, 'bad dealers' are not helping matters either. They're actually responsible for adding to the mix. Something BRP should be keeping a close eye on. IMO Cause, if they are brazen enough to say such things to an owner. One can only imagine what they're saying else where. Sure there are plenty of us who attempt to undo what jerks like this accomplish....but, not everyone wants to have to be defending what and why they ride what they ride. I too have had this kind of experience. One persons bad words had spoiled a pool of twenty plus people. It's only been recently that one of them is seriously thinking about purchasing an RT. jm2c

IMO The guy at the dealership said exactly what he needed to say.

Didn't mean to imply this dealer did a thing wrong. But, others have, and are.

Edit: I went back and reread my post. It's very easy to see how anyone would have thought just what you thought. My bad. Certainly didn't type it the way I was thinking.

My mistake and I own it.

I've had a few people come up to me trying to be somewhat subtle telling me about what a bad choice I made or bad bike it is or whatever. I tell them I've owned 5 Harley's and a couple de'm dar foreigner bikes and I can buy/ride pretty much any kind of bike I want. There was a reason I bought this one and unless you ride one there's no real way to explain it to you in a manner that you would understand.
That and "Mind your own F'en business" works too....:roflblack:

There was a goodbye post here a few weeks back that sounds pretty much like this guy. He couldn't stand the high rpm's and thought the thing sounded like it was going to blow up.

I would have asked him if he wanted to run them. Right then. Right there.

Then you could have fun looking at his expression in your rear view mirror.

What an idiot.

There are two places that i don't bandy with people, One is in a parking lot with a negative person, And the other is in any Wal-Mart weather there negative or not..... As a matter of fact when I'm in Wal-Mart i try not to make eye contact with anyone.....

P/S The Gold-Wing hasn't been made in the USA,[Marysville Ohio] in 5+years....

His ear plugs must have been tuned to a different frequency than ours! Run above 4k and she purrs like a kitten. Below 4k and we have proof something will blow up, but you can't tell some people anything! Glad he paid extra to ignore the dealers recommendation. It's like a tax on stupidity and someone on this forum likely got a nice RT with a thousand miles for a good price and loving it. :)
