• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where do you carry your gun while ryding with a CCW? I'm going to be looking into getting a 1911 when I move to MO. and I'm wondering how those with experience carry their handguns while ryding.

I have a holster I can use in the waist band or in a pocket. For ryding I got a tactical messenger bag with a carry compartment. I'll sling it across my body.

Right hip for pistol, left hip for extra mags if I carry them on me. Or otherwise mags go in frunk/trunk in mag pouch.

Depending on the weapon I carry as to where I place it, if I take my 380 it is in my vest pocket, my glock 10m is on a shoulder rig as would be my judge. At times I also carry throwing spike and they are strapped to my lower left arm.

If you plan to carry a 1911; get a Galco S.O.B. :2thumbs:
I've used one for over twenty years; it's still my favorite rig for a full-sized .45!
(But the Seecamp in the front pocket is pretty handy also... ;))

Where I carry depends on what I carry, shoulder rig, belt pouch, vest pocket, ankle, small of back, either hip, pocket, sometimes up a sleeve.

A full-sized .45 isn't that easy to carry concealed... they're simply too big!
The small of the back rigs seem to give the best concealment versus acessibility balance...
A shirt with a long tail on it covers them up nicely!

No need for conceal in Oklahoma, i carry my smith and wesson 40 on my hp on plain sight, (sometimes), people are scared to see a Mexican with a gun:roflblack: so i don't carry it very often, when i carry my 38 special i carry it under my arm, best place for it.

Or a machete :yikes: :roflblack:

As others have said, depends on what I'm carrying. My PT22 is either in my front pocket, right ankle, vest pocket or hip. Bersa 40 is usually in a shoulder rig.

On an unrelated note my husband has a Colt 1908 Hammerless 380 from his Great Uncle Hammie and he was curious how old it was. He just now got confirmation from Colt that it was made in 1923. 90 years old and it still shoots great.

Hammie worked on the railroad and this was the gun he carried.

I'm leaning toward a belly bag but my husband just bought me an ankle holster and I'll give that a try.

One tip for ankle holster is to get a chenille sock (the really fuzzy, soft kind) and cut the toe off about halfway between the toe and the heel. You are left with a soft tube that you can slide up above your ankle to mid-calf. Then secure your holster on top of that. It still shouldn't slip, but is much less likely to blister or just get uncomfortable. I have the Remora ankle holster. Takes the right kind of pant to pull it off so I haven't used it much, but it's not a bad way to carry.

I usually have 1 on my person (also depends on the carry, which depends on the distance riding).

In addition to that, I usually have 1 unloaded in the side corbin with clip in my jacket pocket (this is for when your in one of those states where it gets hairy about transporting a loaded firearm).

I am considering and have some inital drawings on a small modification to the Y plastic panel on the RS (where the glove box is in the RT), that would allow for a small unnoticible compartment for a firearm. Main consideration here is that it would have to be heat resistant.

I was scolded harshly during my time in boot camp that there are no 'clips' anymore. not inless you're carrying an M1. lol they are known as magazines now. :lecturef_smilie:

:agree: I've been scolded enough on this point that it's finally sinking in! :D
Garands have "clips"; any other receptacle that you can remove from the firearm that holds the ammunition is a "Detachable Box Magazine"
