There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Speculation on battery location change?

I'm not a wrench nor am I techy. Consequently, this is more than likely a dumb question. However, I'm gonna ask it anyway. Why would BRP change the battery location in the 2013s?

Chris PS: I'm not against this change. I was just wondering.

No mechanic here; but it sure looks as if it'll be easier to get to!
Perhaps it also shifts it a bit closer to the center of mass?
I'm also wondering if they can now expand that left saddlebag for some more storage?

How about expanding the gas tank into the battery space? Couple of extra gallons wouldn't hurt.

 I haven't looked all that closely up under there...
Is that tank close-enough to that vacated space to make this a possibility???

I had no problem with the battery location in the tail of my GS. So I did not understand the complaints about it's location, (maybe a RT thing). Once you removed a couple pieces of tupperware, there was a clear access to the battery. With battery in the front on the 2013 you have to open the trunk, remove the junk stored in it and a piece of tupperware. Even then you don't have straight on access.

Sparks,
What you said makes good sense!
Billy, It sure could be an RT thing; but there must be a couple of positives to this change for you RS Pilots...

I agree with Sparks that the shorter the wires have some advantages. But for GS/RS folks access to the battery is a little worse.

Seems like I read somewhere that the 2013 Spyders have a lower center of gravity. This may be a large part of that change. Also, the left saddlebag did fill the gap left by the battery. That was one of the things I was interested in checking when I saw them at the bike show in Atlanta last weekend.

Because they could! :)

BATTERY ACCESS

I had no problem with the battery location in the tail of my GS. So I did not understand the complaints about it's location, (maybe a RT thing). OMG..We will have to open the trunk to get to the BATTERY now....That's it I'm selling this thing .....it's WAY TO COMPLICATED........:yikes::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:........Mike

More protection for the rider if the battery explodes. :yikes: :yikes: Ouch!! :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:

Since it appears I have been stuck in the negative side of this conversation I'll go with it. Lower center of gravity good point. But it's located in a much hotter location. May shorten battery life?

I'm not sure how much different the shapes of the frunks are... Your point may be perfectly valid!
Please don't think that you're being blindsided or set-upon by a gang of thugs; most of us would rarely kick somebody who's already down! ;)
