• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DPS code?

I could use some help from y'all. I had my rotors deglazed this weekend on my 08 RS because the brake squeaking was just driving me insane!!! As soon as they were re installed it threw a code saying DPS. I know this is the power steering code.. However, my closest dealer is extremely far away from me and I am hoping someone may know what to do. Do I need to take off and re install? Just reset the code? Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Ride it a short distance, and see if it clears. Next step is to reseat the relays in the fusebox in the trunk, then to check the battery terminals (inside the body, not under the seat) for tightness and cleanliness. Frankly, if your dealer was the last to touch it before the problem, I'd let him make it right.

Thank you so much for the info. We were wondering the same thing on the reset. As for the dealer. I have been very fortunate to not have any problems with my bike at all until this once. And it's an 08'. :)

Pull each relay out of the socket, then push it back in, snugly.

You pull it out to allow any corrosion to be scrapped off by the socket connectors.

:agree: I might add to pull them out one at a time, note the orientation, and put them back in the same direction you took them out. Some can be reversed or put in the slot wrong, and they will not work that way. This is a job for "One thing at a time", not a wholesale makeover.

PUT THEM BACK CORRECTLY

Do as Scotty says....ask me how I might know this :opps: :opps:...and may I humbly suggest swabbing the contacts with DI-ELECTRIC GREASE before putting them back in...CRC is good......Mike

Sorry Mike but I don't agree.
Di-electric grease is an insulator.
IMHO it should not be applied to low voltage contacts such as found on the relays.
I agree with Roger. If you do anything, just clean the tabs and sockets with a plastic compatible contact cleaner.

Thanks guys! Unfortunately, none of that worked. :(
And the closest dealer said he was at least a month behind and will charge me 150 just to run a diagnostic to even see if it is a real problem. And may I say, he was the RUDEST person I have ever dealt with. He hates spyders and even told me that!!

You need to tell him to stick it up his azz and contact BRP about the terrible service...I'd also advise him that you were doing so....I'd love to have one of these service jocks talk to me like that.

I decided why bother. He apparently does not really care what I think. So I am taking my business someplace else. I'm going to OKC

 That's the right move! I hope the new dealer is a peach, and you are back on the road in short order.

Sometimes dealers like that are like a Slinky, Not realy good for anything, But you still can't help but ;
'Smile when you shove them down the stairs!:roflblack:

OMG!!! A gremlin must have been in my computer system. The DPS CODE WENT AWAY!!! And it's now turning smooth as can be. So guys, cross your fingers and pray to whatever god you believe in that the witch doctor I hired did the trick. :)
It's either that or threatening to make it scrap metal may have scared it into submission. Lol

DPS code is back. It comes and goes. I ran the toys for tots run anyway. So at least it made it for the that. Now to have it checked out. :(

Since you have checked the battery terminals (inside the bodywork), and hopefully the rear frame ground (negative jumper terminal under the seat) for tightness, the next step would be a check of the charging system, the ability of the battery to take and hold a charge, and the load capacity of the battery. A low/bad battery can cause intermittent DPS problems, since the DPS is the biggest electrical load on a running Spyder. If the problem appears when you turn, it is even a better indication of an electrical origin. Intermittent problems are difficult to diagnose. I wish you and your tech the best of luck in your quests to find the source of the trouble.

Thanks so much! I am hoping to get it into the shop ASAP. Thankfully, it's almost time to put it up for winter. I sure would have hated for this to have happened over the summer

I am one lucky girl. Even though the dealer I bought my bike from no longer sells spyders. He is trying to get mine fixed through can am for me due to the fact it was a recall issue. Cross your fingers.

A little Voo Doo might help.

Perhaps a little VooDoo is called for in this case.
