• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Engine went really HOT & went into Limp Mode - any ideas?

ENGINE HEAT WENT REALLY HIGH. Display read limp home mode. So I did.
I checked the oil, coolent, and fuses. The fan does not appear to be coming on. Any thoughts?

Thanks I will do that. Do you know when the fan should turn on or when it normally does.

Well, I went to back the spyder in the garage and it wouldn't start. I pushed it in. In checking the three black relays I found that only one appears to be working. I will let you know if replacements do the trick. Thanks for the advice.

The fan should come on (at least mine does) shortly after hitting 5 bars on the gauge. It goes off after it drops back to 4. There are several threads that explore this topic to death. Hope it's just the relay... but you might want to find out why relays are crapping out if the situation recurrs!

Don't forget, at least in the long run, that this is what warranties are for. Get it running if you can, but get it to the dealer and report it anyway. If there is a problem they can rectify, all of us will benefit in the end if BRP does the work or provides the parts...or eventual recall.

Relays did the trick

:yes:Thanks for the support. The new relays did the trick. My fan turns on at five bars and shuts off at four bars.
I purchased my spyder about 260 miles from where I live. The dealer known my situation he is flexible and things will work out.

Thanks again ya'll.

We got three relays this weekend in preparation for the Gatlinburg trip. Anything that could help keep us on the road and on schedule is a good thing. :2thumbs:

My dealer is about 260 miles away. I have put another 100 miles on since to incident. The spyder is running fine. My dealer asked for a synopsis. He wanted to know how muck I spent on the relays and how much time I had into it. The dealer will complete a report for BRP. I am told that I may get reimbursed in some fashion. So far it's all good.

Highway peg brackets 129.00
powdercoat black pegs 59.00
New ride position- priceless

The owners manual pointed me in the right direction for locating relays and fuses.

Some are front left under the trunk lid and under the black strip of plactic that runs horizontal just behind the trunk.

Others are located under the seat towards the back on the right side of the spyder. Again they are under plastic.

It's all in the owners manual. Although they should just sell spyders with a shop manual. Not because they break alot. I simply want to know more.
