• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another new Spyder Lover

Congratulations and welcome to the Spyder Hood (or should I say WEB). Be prepared to answer lots of questions when you take the
Spyder out of its web for a ride. Some people say it is so ugly:yikes:, but they still ask lots of questions  HAVE FUN:yes::yes:

Thanks for the welcome. Ugly?!?! How dare they?! :D

farkles----yes that is a term thrown around---

what's the first farkle you will be adding to your machine? will it be sport rack and back rest, or are you going for that aftermarket exhaust system? you are just beginning to spend your money!!!!nojokebelieve me, you are just beginning! congrats on the new ride!!!

YAY!

Hi Mike! I used to live in Poway, now in Colorado near Estes Park. You will LOVE LOVE LOVE your Spyder.
I have the touring windsheild, but ended up taking it off for the summer - it worked too well. Put it back on for my trip up to Jackson Hole, and glad I did; rain, wind, bugs - all the fun. It is a good addition.
Enjoy riding in San Diego - I have many good friends there, and still work for Party City of San Diego franchise.

Great advice that will save you much time in your 'learning curve'.

Have fun, new friend!

Sue,

Good advice. I'll check out that thread carefully.

I've decided not to add anything for a while. I wanna enjoy it stock for now. Maybe get the Sport/Touring windshield when it gets a little cooler. I'll be sure to keep the stock one so I can swap 'em out depending on the distance/season. I have a full-face helmet and right now it's nice to just flip the visor up to the first detent when I need to cool off a little at slower speeds.

Though I'm "blessed" with a tall torso and short legs (so the RS riding position is actually pretty comfortable), I probably will get the 1" riser block soon. I think that would make the riding position perfect.

I also work in Poway (so it's 4.1 miles door-to-door on city streets), so I get to practice riding my Spyder every day without dealing with a lot of twisties and freeways.

So, I bought mine on Ebay, flew back to Kansas City and rode it back to Colorado. Got my practice going straight. Then, brought it home to the mountains where I live - rode everyday to get practice on twisties since I can't go anywhere without riding some. I'm still working on the interstate - REALLY don't like it, but will have to suck it up on occasion. I do the same thing with my visor - actually it is rare for me to have it down all the way.

Awesome. Funny how we're both feeling our way around a bit and arriving at the same places. :)
