• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Summer is coming to an end. Yea! - For some of us.

Jeriatric

Thinks out loud
That means those of us who have blow torch radiator vent issues will once again get to ride and completely enjoy it.

Do you think BRP will have or endorse a fix before summer rolls around again ?

So far my spyder bloc top vent cover and halving the underside cover plate has worked wonders for any heat issue. And as we all know we've had some doozy heat this summer in the South. My engine temp guage never runs above 5 bars and usually runs at 4. Maybe you can hit the right combination.....:bowdown:smoky

Thanks for your suggestion Smoky. My dealer (a very reputable and long established motorcycle shop since the 1960's) recommends not doing vent blocks, and BRP says not to alter our Spyder if you don't want your warranty called into question. Since my warranty is to protect my purchase and is good Through the middle of 2016. I need BRP's OK before anything can be done.

Even more important when you live in one of the "hot zones". I'm actually looking forward to the "heater" it should lengthen my riding season!

RT owners- Doesn,t the 2 side shields In Front of the vents inhibit more hot air from escaping through the vents and Also slow you down because they increase the snow plow effect of the front end?
I would also think you would be cooler with more airflow around your body with the 2 side shield OFF?
Has anyone taken them off?:dontknow:

Most folks who block those off remove the panels from under the bike; the airflow isn't stopped as much as it's re-directed downward.
Some folks in here have removed those lower (under the mirrors) air deflectors and have said that it lets more air get to them.
Baker-Nuilt's AirWings probably are the most effective way to get more air to the folks ian the saddle!

The whole heat issue has driven me crazy all summer. On the one hand, my wife wouldn't get on the spyder again, unless I got the heat issue resolved, but on the other hand, there's the risk of warranty issues with block off plates, etc. The main point of getting the costly spyder was to get out of town and escape the heat, so basically with no heat mods, it was a waste of money. Even at 95 degrees, the heat was unbearable, which makes the bike useless for half of the year in the desert southwest. At least with mods, its somewhat functional. I have a warranty to 2016 as well.... Or do I? It would be super nice, if BRP came up with a solid fix, before next summer.

In any event, the cooler temps are definitely welcome.

I have pops block off plate on top and have not had any issues with over heating. When fall comes in I will take off block off plate, but will leave bottom plates off. Also will put back upper air deflectors.

26 90 + degree days here in Syracuse NY. Need 2 more to tie the record.

Knock on wood - so far the heat problem has noot been an issue for Nan & I with the RT with no mods. Feel for u that have had to suffer with it.

Had the upper block off plates put on the wifes and my RT. After one week took them off. The heat coming up and around us was worse than the origional design. Cowtown did remove the under panels so for us it just didn't work. Ready for cooler weather so I can enjoy keeping my feet warm.

the Chattanooga, TN area is conducive to ALL YEAR
riding, and we do. during the summer months,
I simply remove the wing deflectors under the mirrors,
the re-attach them in the fall. the extra air flow drawn
into those vents, seems to help. I haven't gotten my
ankles roasted since we've ridden.

as for BRP warranty... ours is out, so that's no longer
an issue.

Just about time to put the street donkey away and pull out the fun stuff.

As much as I love sledding, I've grown tired of shoveling and paying for fuel oil... When my six lucky numbes finally come up; I'm heading somewhere with a longer street-riding season!

Bob, the population of the Coachella Valley expands and contracts seasonally for that very reason. Snowbirds. Once you decide to live hear full time you're no longer considered a snow bird. You become a California raisin before the end of your first summer.

Dehydrated and shriveled :roflblack:

I am currently designing a spyder "spit" mod, that lets you roast meat while you ride.

Ideas for accessories to your "Spit". Might be a peanut roaster, tamale cooker, pop corn popper, etc. etc; Think the list could easily grow from here.

Meals on wheels. Let us know when it's available. :roflblack:
