• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How important is it to wear a helmet?

Good information. ATGATT--but if you are going to sluff off--always wear a helmet. The need for it could come at any second and you should be ready for it.

Helmets have saved me twice, once on a mountain bike, and once in HS baseball. I'm damn sure not going tempt fate by NOT wearing a helmet on a motorcycle!

I really don't understand what the big deal is with people who think they are fine without a helmet. Personally, I would not ride without a helmet. I think it's just stupid and is the mind set of - nothing will happen to me! You will never see me on my Spyder without one!!

It was a slightly foggy morning, so mist had made the roads extra slick.

I took the turn too fast, and my rear tire lost traction and slipped out beneath me.

The bike and I separated. It did a 360 spin into the adjacent curb and I slid along the ground behind it.

I got up, righted the bike, checked controls, and drove off.

Had I not been wearing ATGATT, after seeing the road rash on my pelican, I'm sure my arm and legs would be hamburger.

So protect what you want to save, and play roulette with the rest. Its every riders' choice.

I know too well how important it is to wear a helmet, on my two wheeler crash in June my helmet is cracked in two places and the half screen well not much left of it and it is all scratched up pretty bad.

Well this ought to get the blood pumping once again! :gaah:
How long do you think it'll take before it gets downright serious in here?

Is that you in the picture below with the half bucket? Do yourself a favor, laydown on the ground and roll around a couple times and see which parts of your face come in contact with the pavement. I say this because I watched a friend and his son launch off a vrod at about 40 mph and into a nice soft grassy ditch, with half buckets. Dad had a broken jaw, nose, and needed a bunch of stitches in his face. His son got away with a broken nose and a broken wrist. Dad wears a full face now and son doesn't ride anymore.

Helmet or not, the guy is still a :cus: idiot! Riding, knowing he doesn't have a rear break. People that do stupid stuff like this are the ones that end up killing innocent people. Lucky for any on coming traffic he went over the cliff.

I don't think it said he went in knowing he didn't have a rear brake, I think he found that out when he went into the corner a little too hot.

helmet

michigan just passed a no helmet law. its a no brainer I use a helmet.no helmet no brain.......:sour:;)

I've been riding since I was 17 and I've NEVER ridden without a helmet. Helmets have literally saved my life twice. Personally, I don't understand people who ride without them, but I guess they don't think about surviving as much as I do. No helmet, no ride.

I always wear one even though we have a no helmet law in Florida.

True if you carry medical insurance.. but a helmet is mandated by law if you do not have the medical coverage.. and that's the law.

However, if one travels to other states, some do some don't but you better have one and wear it or the fine could be stiff. Just ask Firefly...

I have three half helmets and one 3/4. Some of us can't wear full face helmets for various reasons. But at least we wear a helmet. My brother lives in MD, which has a no helmet law. He wears his all the time. I respect anyones right to not wear a helmet. When i started riding back in the ... all we had were 3/4 helmets. I used to wear an old fighter pilot helmet until the USAF put a stop to it.

I do appreciate your concern, and yes, that picture was me. I also wear a 3/4 helmet, especially when traveling longer distances. Thanks again and ride safe!

I believe Maryland requires the use of a helmet. New this year even for mopeds and scooters
