• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Dealer Whoa's

Greg asked about my bike & dealer problems. Well they started as soon as I got it. First they had to replace the speedo buttons on the dash which was no biggy, then the power steering went out. For two wks. I'd call the service dept. about it and they just said the part was on order but would'nt tell me when it would come in. I finally called BRP and they told me "we only talk to the dealer".I thought that was kind of rude. It took over a mo. to get the part. The day I brought it home from that problem it started stalling on me. Totally it happen six times, twice on the freeway @ 70+ mph the engine just stopped like someone turned off the key. Quite the religious experience I'll tell you. I had it in twice, with them telling me they had to drive it to figure out the problem then I found out they were only driving it around the block then parking it. It seemed to fail every 200 mi. on avg. I told them to take it out and they told me they could'nt because if ins. restrictions. They had to drive it to to figure out the problem but could'nt because of the ins.
HMMMM, what was I missing here. I asked them to call BRP and for some reason they would'nt do that either. They had it for over 4 wks. total before I became such a pain they finally call them and an hr. after BRP had a new key switch in the mail. I thought that was pretty amazing.

Even with the bad customer service I still love my spyder. Hopefully all my troubles behind me but if not I will try another service dept..

.

Aloha..

re

Sorry to hear about the problems you have had. I guess that is my only fear of owning the spyder is if something major goes wrong and it takes forever to fix. I'm glad to see most of the issues that I have seen reported are the noisy brakes. Hopefully going forward your spyder will turn for the better.

i would find another dealer ,,,, i've had pretty good luck with mine ... had a parking break issue that ended up having to replace whole rear brake system ... but my service guy called me every day (3 total) to keep me informed ... and called me 2 days after i picked it up to make sure everything was cool ... now thats service ...

Service - it makes the difference

Ya that dealers history. They are not the dealer of purchase but closer to home and with it stalling on me I was leary of driving it. I'll drive the extra distance from now on ,now that I'm pretty sure it won't stall, plus it's a ride.

You actually had your dealer call you? That has NEVER happened with this outfit.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've had. Problems can arise at any time but having a dealer that doesn't communicate properly can be very frustrating. I would like to extend an offer for you to come and meet me and my staff and take a quick tour of the service department at Fun Bike Center. I'm the guy that BRP calls when any Spyder has a problem in San Diego. Including my most recent guest, Lamonster himself.

I try to do all the work on any of my rides myself but I was glad to be pointed to Jeff at FBC when I did have problems with my Spyder. Jeff took care of me as if we were old friends and in a way we were. ;)

If you're in San Diego this is the place to go.

So, Lamont; what was the problem with the Spyder giving you that 'Limp' code? We're all wanting to know. My dealer thinks it was just a matter of it getting too warm in the climate you were riding in. 'just needed a rest? :)

It's hard to say but chances are it had something to do with a loose connection in the fuse box itself. We did change out one fuse that was blown. Why the fuse was blown is still a mistery. So far I've yet to throw a code and the heat has been the same as before so I don't think it was heat related now.

Checking You Out

Jeff, I was up your way on Sat. to check out FBC. Very nice. Tried to order a lens cover for the lic. plate lite but the BRP site was down. The kid behind the desk was very nice and tried everything he could to get through but alas no luck, but I appreciated his effort.

I am very I missed you. I looked into your license plate lens and BRP does not offer the lens only. The part is only sold as an assembly and runs $78.99 I have one in stock and would be happy to offer a discount of 10% off the price if you are interested.

That seems pretty silly! Maybe you could pass along that sentiment. Ours came off, too, but it was recovered.

Thanks Jeff. I'll call and set an up appointment.

I contacted BRP and they agreed to warranty the assembly for you. I have the part in stock and will be happy to install it at your convenience. Please send me an email or call me and we'll setup a time to get you handled.

Im good buddies with my local Honda/Yamaha Shop owner.....He told me once that when his service guys take bikes out for Test Rides that they can only turn RIGHT because of insurance reasons.....Insurance companies say that if you turn left your are more likely to get into an Accident because you are Crossing Traffic....

That is absolutley the case under normal circumstances, i.e. tune up, tire changes etc. However when a customer states they are experiencing a running or handling concern the dealer is obligated to try to duplicate it and that can involve test rides of up to 50 miles in a day if required. That is extreme but I have had to do it myself to duplicate problems. The only thing we as dealer wont do is break the law, so if you bike has a miss at 100 MPH in 3rd gear we can perform all the needed checks but can't try to duplicate that.

Great Experience

I met Jeff, of Fun Bike Center this AM and he took great care of me. He not only had parts on hand but he got BRP to cover everything on warranty. I now have a new dealer which I would recommend to anyone in San Diego Co.. Thanks as well to our leader, THE Lamonster, for your imput. This site makes you feel like you have alot of brother & sisters out their....
