There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I'm really do need to get my legs out to a more relaxed position/ I've read about the foot rest mounts but not sure which to go with, the Rivco Highway Peg Mount or the Footrest Bracket Kit from Custom Dynamics. I want to make the installation process for hubby as easy as possible. Heck, whom I kidding, the process needs to go smooth for both of us. If it ain't goin good for hubby, it ain't goin good for me either. ;)

For those of you that have either one of these installed on you Spyder, what is your opinion?

I purchased adjustable highway pegs and bracket from ESI cycle products. I had to do some drilling and filing on the frame to make them fit , because the RS does not have any holes in the frame to be able to mount them but they seem to be ok. Thanks, Stan

When asking only about two choices of floor boards/highway pegs you're limiting your comparison and choices. Keep in mind, for example, some people may want their knees more extended while others may want their feet a little lower to extend their hips some and still others may want to have floor boards/highway pegs that don't take their feet to far from the brake. Those are just a few examples; I'm sure there are more.

Of course, if you have already checked out what others have said regarding floor boards/highway pegs and have decided on one of the two mentioned, disregard what I have said above. I have neither the Rivco nor ESI/Custom Dynamics so I can't comment on those.

NBV FOOT PEGS FROM LAMONSTER

HE CAN SEND YOU THE MOUNTS AND THE PEGS FOR VERY LITTLE MONIES. THEY ARE VERY EASY TO MOUNT ,NO DRILLING OR CUTTING INTO THE TUPPERWEAR. ABOUT 30 MIN PER PEG. ALSO ADJUSTABLE. I LIKE EM.:bowdown::yes:

Aren't the NBV's for RT's only?

I've said it in countless threads, but this is because I feel so strongly about them: the Rivco pegs, while solid as the frame itself, are too close and too high for comfortable riding unless you're *really* short.

I love the Rivco driver and passenger floorboards, but their highway pegs are just in the wrong place for me. :(

This is what we made at my shop

They are custom made and took a quit a bit of time.. They seem very sturdy and I like that sand and debris can just fall through. They are also made of stainless steel so they should be pretty easy to keep clean and maintain. :)

Thank you. I'll check that out.

My bad. :opps: I didn't know there were more. I guess I want to have my feet lower and stretched out further. Yeah, the hips need to relax more too. I just want to be more cumfy. I don't want floorboard, pegs are fine. Age is catching up with me and I need all the comfort I can get. :)

So, what do you have and how do you like them? :helpsmilie:

When I hit the lotto and get my RT I'll look you up. But thanks for the info just the same. :doorag:

So, do you have the Rivco bracket with the floorboards then? I have a picture of the Rivco brackets but it's a close up picture. I guess I'll have to get a better picture of the whole bike to see them better.

Very nice. :2thumbs: And you'll be here when to install mine????:)

Yup. Like this guy's setup:

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?31789-Rivco-floorboards-installed&highlight=rivco+floorboards

Note that out of all the floorboard options, the Rivco ones appear to be the most complex to install-- you need to bolt the forward part of the board underneath the bike and that can be a tricky install. I took one look under the bike at what I had to do and said to heck with it and got a dealer to install it, just didn't want to deal with the frustration. Other, handier people with a better garage may call me a wuss.

That said, the quality of the Rivco products is first-rate, they build REALLY solid stuff, and I'm very happy with both their driver and passenger footboards. Like I mentioned above, the Rivco highway pegs (which bolt together well with the floorboards) are a similarly first-rate product, the trouble is the brackets are really tall AND short-- meaning, they brackets are close in to your feet and very tall, which results in a "doctor's exam stirrup" feel to them. Again, if you have short legs, they may work for you, but even at my short inseam (29-30"ish) they're still too close for comfort.

I wish they had brackets that moved the pegs out and forward of the plastic "wings" down there at the bottom of the RS. Yeah, your legs would be splayed open even more, but having the pegs forward and down would allow for a more civilized posture.

I'll likely switch out the brackets at some point, just have to find the time and money to do so.

For that reason, I'd consider the ESI or Kewlmetal brackets before I'd consider the Rivcos. My two cents.

I have the kewlmetal highway bracket with kuryakyn footpegs. With the kewlmetal bracket there is no drilling required. However, there is a bolt that goes from one side of the engine to the other that is removed and replaced with the one supplied. My dealer did the install.

I use them to stretch out every now and then when I get a cramp in my hip/hips. The position of the pegs are adjustable with the link supplied with the highway bracket. Since my foot was further away from the brake, I purchased the larger brake pedal from Tricled (a site supporting sponsor).
