• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Snowy Ride Video

snowy roads

I know that the cages usually make 2 tracks through the snow. How does it ride when you have the rear tire in the yuckkky stuff in the middle?

Really neat. What was the temperature that day? What do you wear to keep warm? I used to ride a lot in the colder weather (2 wheels) but not in snow. You have encouraged me to ride regardless of the weather as long as the roads are somewhat cleared. Thanks for sharing.

Answers to the last 2 questions:

1. Rear tire in the yucky stuff: I tried to keep the rear tire out of the yucky stuff. I would leave the front 2 wheels in the snow and slush and make it a point to keep the rear wheel on the more cleared out areas. I did have one point where the rear wheel slipped and kicked out for a second, but the traction control put me right back in control. No worries.

2. Riding gear: I don't have a riding gear budget, so I use some of my old army stuff. So did my wife Becky. I find that in the 15-30 degree range, poly-propylene (long underwear) works well under jeans. I also have an old field jacket liner that I will employ sometimes. On this particular ride, it was in the 30's at the base of the mountain and probably in the teens at the top. My wife commandeered my thermal long johns, so I actually wore fleece pajama pants under my jeans along with the poly-pro top and my jacket (which has a zipped-in liner).

One thing I need to find some pennies for is a good pair of winter riding gloves. My hands were very cold up on the mountain.

Hey I've seen the threads on the Drift HD 170 Stealth (which I use), and would like to know if anyone else has posted a winter riding video...? I would love to see what you are doing with this amazing little camera!!

mine are with a go cam HD, I have a few and I like mine, I did find that at night or low light the camera does not understand what snow is so it adjusts the amount of light it brings in.

Nice Seth. I could feel the adrenalin as you really wanted to pass the vehicle in front of you.

always, some people don't know they are on a public track. I will make another one this year. I rode home in -8F today. The spyder is running great in the cold air, but you can burn the tire alot more with the track temp being so cold.

-8 degrees?? WOW. Anything under 20 degrees and I'm taking the cage. You must have some serious thermal gear!!
