Hi all!
My name is Faran Hearyman and I am honored to have been chosen as one of the two new Spyder Ambassadors. Like Mickey, I wanted to drop in and say hello to the Spyderlovers.com community. It is obvious from all the posts I have read that you guys have a fondness for each other and are passionate about your Spyders.
It’s been a whirlwind few days since I got the news about winning and I’m not sure I’ve come down off the ceiling yet. I’ve never won a bingo game much less something of this magnitude! Truth is, I almost didn’t enter. My husband and I have wanted a motorcycle for a while, but it was clearly not going to be in our budget any time soon. For months, I’d been Googling “motorcycle contest” thinking there might be some small chance I could win one. (It seems silly, I know, but when you’re desperate you try anything!)
In mid-March my husband found the BRP website and began showing me the Spyder. We’d never seen it before. Wow, we were hooked! Then April 1 I found the contest. But I figured they were probably looking for the same kind of ambassadors they’d had in the past—seriously experienced riders who can crisscross the country visiting dealerships and attending Spyder events. But even though I’m clearly no Fred Rau or Lamont, I decided “what the heck, I’ll try anyway.”
And much to my surprise and delight, BRP was looking for someone different this year. So as a mom with elementary-age kids, I obviously won’t be seeing some of the same scenery that Mickey will. But I hope to represent on the blog how the Spyder makes it possible to quickly and confidently go from a lifetime in the rear seat to totally on my own. And let me say that I. CANNOT. WAIT.
I’m in a beautiful part of Arkansas with plenty of twists, turns and beautiful roads. Little Rock is an hour away and Memphis not quite two hours, so I plan on some urban riding as well. I’ve got a fabulous group of friends out riding every weekend, with many serving in Christian Motorcyclists Association. So I plan on putting plenty of miles on the Spyder quickly, even if I stay closer to home that previous Ambassadors. I would say YES to every invitation if I could because that’s just in my nature.
As I read the boards over the last several days, I know there are some folks doubting my choice as an Ambassador. If I were in your shoes, I’d probably feel the same way, given the admirable support you provide to your fellow SpyderLovers. Everyone has to start riding some time, so all I can ask for is your patient encouragement, riding tips, and good wishes. As I know more about what BRP hopes to do with my particular role, I’d love to keep you posted.
Looking forward to this adventure with you,
Faran
p.s. I’ve gotten some friend requests and messages from a few of you on Facebook. Since my personal FB page is covered with photos of my two girls whom I protect like a mama bear, I’ve created a Faran SpyderRyder page. Please find me there or email [email protected]
