• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gripes about vendors

In the past week or so, I've received products from vendors that do not fit my RT. It seems the vendors and/or manufacturers developed products for the RS, but never specified which model because the RT wasn't yet in production.
I ordered Kewlmetals High Performance Air Filter which it's description only specified Spyder. It turned out to be backordered. I began disassembly per their online instructions, ran into a problem, called them, only to be told it's not for the RT.
I ordered and received the Evoluzion air filter from Kewlmetal and it was 7/8" longer than the factory filter. Once again no model application in the description. Same scenario.
I ordered and received a flag holder from ISC. It doesn't fit the RT because it's about an inch too short and won't clear the round portion of the fender above the license plate mount. Again, no model designation in the item description.
Decided to get the Green air filter and the sponsored website had no model designation. But I did find it at another website that did specify.
All I'm saying is manufacturers need to get up to date about their products to avoid confusion now that there are 2 Spyder models.

Not sure where else you looked but on our site it clearly says this filter is for the RT :dontknow:

http://www.esicycleproducts.com/spyderhighperformancefilter.html

The last line in the description right above the price says...

"Green High Performance Filter for 2010 Can Am Spyder RT"

MM
actually you have 2 showing, one clearly saying for RT just like you said, and the other one says
only Spyder, So maybe he didn't see the one you linked to, but rather the one I am showing the link to. Maybe
indicating for GS/RS models would help :dontknow:
http://www.esicycleproducts.com/,
maybe after he got to your main sight he clicked on the reusable air filter here, http://www.esicycleproducts.com/spyderairfilterkit.html and wasn't
sure if it was for the RT. :dontknow: and just maybe since he had bad luck with ordering the wrong parts for other
things he was gun shy. ( I am just guessing, and could be completely wrong)

I believe Matt at Kewl Metal isn't the one who designed his web site, like many others. But feed back from
the buyers can be constructive criticism too. I ordered a part for my bike several times and had i just done
it on line i would have not gotten everything necessary to complete the job. But luckily after talking with the
inventors on both occasions, I understood and got exactly what I needed to have it work the way it was designed and suppose
to. Did i post something like Doug B did, no. Maybe I should have, cuz I bet others ordered their item, and then
had to find out that everything wasn't gonna work unless they got the other part. And then they incurred
an additional shipping cost.

But heck I never order online without a phone call, and it has saved me many times. I called on my REDA gas cans
and got all 3 from Magic Man:yes::yes::yes: at the discounted price which ends on Sunday, so hurry and call http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25351

:agree:

The other web page does say "Air Filter for the Can-Am Spyder" only.

Be a nice gesture to reach out and do the right thing with Doug B on the filter. It's just a simply web site mistake that can easily by fixed both for this customer and future ones. :dontknow:

Just saying.....

Being a vendor, of sorts, I know it can be tough keeping up with all the different listings and details. Your eyes glaze over and you miss things.

Still, it is important to keep up with changes so the customer gets what they need the first time.

Customers will email me with problems in my listing or questions that should have been answered in the description. I really appreciate that, for sure. Helps keep me straight!

On the other hand, 99% of the questions I get about my listed items concern details that are clearly described. So it goes both ways.

Bottom line is, transactions between a good seller and a resonable buyer will always come out positive in the end.

Both NMN and Kewlmetal have top quality stuff... even if it doesn't fit! :roflblack:

I wasn't knocking the products I mentioned, as from what I have seen they are all top quality. The descriptions were the only problem I found. Thinking some more about it, I'm now carrying about $450.00 on my credit card and getting interest charged until I return the items and get the charges removed. Is this akin to false advertising even if it's unintentional?

I always ask lots of questions and be darn sure what I am buying (especially on the internet) before I plunk down my hard earned money.

I know you were not complaining about product quality. Just my feeble attempt to lighten things up a bit. :D:D

As for interest on your CC. you will either, A) get the product you paid for or B) get a refund. If A) then you're where you would have been anyway except for a delay in delivery. If B), when the charges are removed, any interest accrued will also be removed.

I always pay my CC’s off every month. I never pay their outrageous interest! Talk about getting ripped off! :yikes: But that is another thread entirely.

These descriptions were created when there was only 1 model of Spyder in the world. I will get my site updated, but I can only do so much about all the descriptions that have propagated throughout the dealer network.

So especially if its an older Spyder product, and it does not specify RS or RT, it would be wise to ask first.

If there is ever a question about fitment, please just PM me your question before ordering.

Matt

i've was a mechanic for most of my life and have ordered many mods for my spyder as well as other vehicles i have owned in the past .... specified or not .... it's always a good idea to contact venders and ask .... ESI has been one of the most helpful to me ... obviously the RT and the RS/GS are two different vehicles ...just by what i've read on line and questions i've asked .... :coffee:

As a vendor and the designer with a small product line, I'm able to have a very close relationship with all my customers. It's very unusual that I sell a set of Seal FloorBoards without at least one communication with the customer (sometimes lots). I spend several hours a day just answering questions. I find that good communication leads to a satisfactory transaction on both ends. I'm always happy to answer questions and concerns. The only stupid question is the one that's not asked!

Ride in comfort,

John

I just spoke to ISC about the flag mast for my RT which didn't fit. Seems they should have sent two bars, 1 for the RS & 1 for the RT. They're shipping the RT bar @ no charge. Good ppl to deal with. :)

Good to hear! Also glad to see the web page has been changed to include which model the filters are for. Odd...the same picture and part number is being used for both? Thought one was bigger than the other. :dontknow:

At least the web page is better than it was before. Let's call it mostly fixed. :D
