There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. RT trunk will NOT latch

OK, on the subject of the "rear trunk" closing. I am always learning something new. I went back to the Spyder Cave and played with the lock/latch and found that in order for both latches to close they must close together. Slamming the trunk makes this difficult to do because the "together" has no window of play. I found this out by manually closing the latches. My solution: rest the lid down, then with the heel of your hand just give it a firm tap. I did this several times without fail. Hope this helps someone.

Update:

I had never paid close attention to the "Rear Cargo Door Is Open" alarm before. As I said, it is an orange screen that appears across your entire display. I found that there is a five second delay before the warning shows. Not sure if any of this changes when you are moving.

door ajar...

I get no indication on the panel when any of the four doors on my RT-a/c are ajar.
The only time I've seen the "orange screen of death" is when I had the seat sensor disconnected... and you're right, the full orange screen changes to an orange notice on the bottom of the screen. I know that there is a micro switch on the frunk, but can't see where the switch/s are hidden on the side and rear doors.

I can't see the switches, either, but the wiring diagram shows them, and my RTS shows alarms for all three rear doors. There is no alarm for the front, since it stays closed when moving. Sounds like some folks have some electrical or adjustment problems.

After installing a new airbag fitting, and replacing all of the tupperware on the back of the RT, I hit the road for a test drive. Driving down the interstate at 70mph I noticed a car alongside beckoning toward the back of the bike. One of my side bags was wide open. Luckily, nothing was stored inside at the time. I stopped, closed the cover, and all seems fine now. As added insurance, I may add some internal bungee straps on the side bags as an extra precaution. If they were to pop open "in flight", you'd lose everything. :gaah:
There is supposed to be an indicator to let you know when one of the trunks pops open. Mine never did work.:gaah:

Looking at the wiring diagram, I see the switches (four of them?). The three for the rear doors are normally open. I also notice that they seem to feed through a controller labled "CSS Compressor Suspension Switch" which is shown dotted in the diagram. I'm thinking that this controller is not included on all of the RT's. Could it be that they only work on the RT-S with the adjustable air system??? :dontknow:

:dontknow: You are right, they do feed through the suspension switch from (to?) the cluster. I can think of no logical reason why they would only have these alarms on the RTS, but unless there is an alternate arrangement for the switch wiring on the other models, it is possible that they are limited to the one version. It is possible that they merely use the suspension switch as a connector, and directly connect PIC1-M and PIC1-N when the switch is not fitted. Odd stuff!!! Someone with another model RT needs to rattle the dealer's cage or BRP support, to find out why their alarms do not work. Was this something overlooked in engineering? :dontknow:

I opened all the storage doors on my RT A/C and then drove slowly down the street and NO warning light came on. Are there warning lights for open doors/lids/trunk?

My RTS shows the orange saddlebag open warning on the digital display when ever power is on and a bag is open, even shows which one.

I found this thread on SpyderTalk and it solves the problem. I just tried and it works! Thanks to RattinganRoger for figuring it out. Maybe this should be posted at Step by Step? :2thumbs:

"Solved!

I now have the Cargo Door Open message!

If you don't have the message do this:
Pry up the switch blank that is #4 from the left(The Break/Hood release is #1)
You'll see a switch block hanging there.
It should have a jumper across two terminals.
The jumper should be between #3 & #6
For some reason the numbers go

9 6 5 4 7

10 3 2 1 8

To help you in identification Pin 9 & 4 do not have terminals in them. They are blank.

My jumper was between 4 & 1 which might explain the air shock adjustment graphic on my display."

Please let me know what you find out. When I looked at the Service Manual it looks like the Air Compressor. I had always had the air shock light come on anytime I adjusted the windshield or used the cruise. Now that is gone and I have cargo door open warning lights.

I also sent a copy of the thread to the Spyder Tech Support email address.

Thanks

i was just going to do the same and look it up in the shop or service manual ... not the little book you got with the Spyder but the shop manual.

sounds like you already did that... bummer so they maybe installing all the non-RTS jumpers incorrectly? sounds like everyone on this thread who are NOT RT-S owners dont normally have the warning light on trunk open showing up.
