I know many of you have had issues with the airbag on the RT. Some have been lucky and the new fitting has resolved the problem. Some have needed a new airbag.
I had my fitting and airbag replaced last Tuesday on the way to SITS. I left northeast Tn. thinking that the problem with my airbag leaking was finally over. I drove down the Blue Ridge to Cherokee, and around through Bryson City, and northbound through the Dragon before heading into Gatlinburg.
Thursday morning, before heading up to Lamont's, the RT looked low in the rear so I checked the air... 5 psi! Pumped it up and headed to the barbecue. Friday morning I checked it again and it was dead flat. I pumped it up and headed for home.
Today I tore into it, stripping the RT down to the bone. I tried the soap test with the bag inflated, but found noting... it was still leaking. I finally removed the airbag and hose assembly and submerged it in the laundry tub. Wow, was I surprised to find a faulty NEW top fitting.
When the fitting was manufactured, they did not sweat the adapter sleeve where the hose attaches, all the way around. You can see in the pic (small red arrow) where there was a small section that was not silver soldered, and that was where it was leaking. I certainly can't fault the dealer for this, or BRP... unless they manufactured the part.
Now all I need to do is convince either the dealer, or BRP, to send me a new fitting.:helpsmilie:
