• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Airbag problems...

sinkhole

I know many of you have had issues with the airbag on the RT. Some have been lucky and the new fitting has resolved the problem. Some have needed a new airbag.

I had my fitting and airbag replaced last Tuesday on the way to SITS. I left northeast Tn. thinking that the problem with my airbag leaking was finally over. I drove down the Blue Ridge to Cherokee, and around through Bryson City, and northbound through the Dragon before heading into Gatlinburg.

Thursday morning, before heading up to Lamont's, the RT looked low in the rear so I checked the air... 5 psi! Pumped it up and headed to the barbecue. Friday morning I checked it again and it was dead flat. I pumped it up and headed for home.

Today I tore into it, stripping the RT down to the bone. I tried the soap test with the bag inflated, but found noting... it was still leaking. I finally removed the airbag and hose assembly and submerged it in the laundry tub. Wow, was I surprised to find a faulty NEW top fitting.
When the fitting was manufactured, they did not sweat the adapter sleeve where the hose attaches, all the way around. You can see in the pic (small red arrow) where there was a small section that was not silver soldered, and that was where it was leaking. I certainly can't fault the dealer for this, or BRP... unless they manufactured the part.

Now all I need to do is convince either the dealer, or BRP, to send me a new fitting.:helpsmilie:

Mine is dead right now. Leaks down and has no rebound dampening. Its like a pogo stick. Shock and all parts were overnighted to my dealer and they will be calling me tomorrow for the install.

Airbag...

I don't know exactly what the issue with the old fitting was, but have the dealer take a good look at the new fitting before he installs it on the airbag. :2thumbs:

:yikes::yikes: Wow a naked :spyder2: . Hope you remember where all the parts go .:roflblack::roflblack:
Me too. ;)
Another thing that I've noticed is that there are a lot of errors in the maintenance manual. They mention doing things that aren't necessary when removing some parts, and not disconnecting enough electrical plugs to remove others. I've made lots of notes in the manual for future reference. :2thumbs:

OOPS, I told them its for an RTS, not an RS. I guess they didnt hear me or something. One more day to wait for the parts...LOL

Thanks --

-- for the head's up. :2thumbs: Mine was replaced last month, but the problem remains. Pressure doesn't bleed off as rapidly as before and it doesn't seem to go to ZERO but holds around 25#. I'll make sure my mechanic knows about your finding when I take it in next week. In fact, I'll take a printout. Thanks for the autopsy -- you have a ton more patience than my genetics provide!

Show-off!!! (If airplanes don't frighten him, I know a Spyder won't!) ROFL :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Glad to have sinkhole as my friend!! :ohyea:

:popcorn::popcorn: Waiting on the dealer to call me and tell me the shock is in. And dummy me, I thought overnight meant the next day:gaah::gaah:

... and I'm still waiting on my fitting. :gaah:

Airbag rebuild kit came in today, but not the replacement shock to cure the lack of rebound and banging. Its being overnighted and looks like Saturday being spent at the dealership.

1100 tomorrow and I should be getting the Spyder rear suspension replaced. The shock failed along with the air system. Can anyone say POGO stick riding?

Hey, if you've ever considered getting the BRP CB/Intercom option, now would be the time. Looks like a similar teardown to install. (Seriously)

Minimal teardown to do the shock and airbag. 3 hours at the shop and all is done. I have rebound now and a smoother ryde.
