I have the 2 Bro's single can and like it. I average 30 mpg over the 27, I was getting with the stock muffle and haven't had any close calls with minivan drivers, since putting it on.

A lot depends on how loud you want your Spyder to be and the Hindle is also a popular choice. I wanted it louder for the safety issue and it also depends on your local laws.

:agree: I have dual Two Bros. Spydee's State Vehicle Inspector also agrees that loud pipes are a good safety factor.

A question for all.

Why does one who does not have the Stock OEM can state that the gas milage improves?
Is that a fact or happens to be one's opinion..
I had a leo vence and saw no improved gas milage.
Does the CAN have a significant change to increase or decrease the gas milage performance? If so, Why and what would be the optuium CAN for the best results? Thank you.

On my RS, I tried the Hindle, 2 Bros dual carbon and then the HMF pipe. The HMF sounded best by far. Nice deep sound without the ear piercing sound I had with the 2Bros.
On the RT, The 2Bros single carbon, with PX1 insert sounds good

Meh... This is like when folks change tires and their gas mileage goes up. Usually it is one of two things...

  1. Their driving habits changed because they are now aware of the driving compared to before... Just drive...
  2. if only the muffler was changed, yeah it is possible for the mileage to change in either direction or not at all. Some give less back pressure allowing for the engine to RPM up faster (Allowing for less throttle and better MPG) while some have this same effect but in a negative manner (Computer thinks that it needs to dump more fuel in because of the RPM there by wasting some fuel).
So to answer your question. It depends on all the other add-ons (Filter, computer etc) not just the muffler. And most importantly in our RT and RS cases... If the engine has been broken in yet. More times than not folks see a better mileage after a few thousand miles on their rig. Good chance this may be when some folks have also changed mufflers.

On the other hand... The new muffler just might work better for them in their road and environmental conditions they ryde in allowing the engine to perform like it needs to... :dontknow::thumbup:

Almost 20K on the Leo Vince. Great exhaust and holding up great. I get many compliments on the sound. Some say it sounds like a Ducati.

Yes, I used Permatex ultra copper high temp. rtv silicone gasket maker. Its been working now for 6 months, no leaking in the slipjoint.

I could never get away with a 2 Bros, Micron or anything like that where I live. They are just too loud. I like the Hindle very much, mainly (and I know this is going to sound stupid) but I like the fact that it has the Can-Am stamp right on it! But so far it has been working very well for me and I like the way it flows with the lines of the bike. When it goes away (not sure how long these things live! ) I am considering the Leo Vince and may just go that way.

As far as fuel economy goes, in my case I teamed the hindle with the EVO high-flow air filter and the O2 mod so I have actually seen a modest gain in fuel economy. This is provided I am not charging or carving, which I am usually doing!!:roflblack: The engine is simply breathing better so it's producing a bit more power and torque which reduces the power to weight ratio, so for normal riding conditions you may see a modest gain. Unless... you guessed it, charging and carving!! :roflblack:

Thanks for the info... That confirms my suspisions.

You use more gas because you're always cranking on it.

Hence Charging and carving!! But I did run an interesting experiment where I made a real effort not to do that and just ride. In fact I even short shifted a little bit and kept the engine just shy of 6000 rpm with no real loading condition and got pretty impressive results. But yeah, mostly you are loving the sound and feel and you are just crankin on it!

Here is the Leo Vince in action... http://community.ridegear.com/_Can-am-Spyder-Leo-Vince-Slip-on-exhaust/video/614007/95851.html

Pretty nice!!

I also added the 02 sensor mod. Talking to SpyderWolf, he suggested I try it since I was getting some backfiring and a lot of popping. I also changed the plugs and by doing both my mileage increased, the backfiring stopped and I have very little popping, unlike before. Also while my Spyder was in for a new DPS, they cleared all codes and updated all updates and ECM.

Not knowing the results I was getting, SpyderWolf waited for my report before he added the 02 sensor mod. He noticed a difference also and changed out plugs and air filter. His mpg changed also for the better. He has the Hindle. Whether the changing of the muffler helps in mpg is questionable and if you enjoy revving at stoplights, thats going to cut down on your mpg.

My neighbors always wave but, not with all fingers when I'm coming and going. :roflblack: When my neighbors across the street, came down for the weekend. They jumped out of their chair's on the deck when I fired it up. I got the same reaction from them, when I put the FlowMax on my Z71.:D:thumbup:

SpyderWolf also had all codes cleared and updates done, when he took his in to have his rear tire replaced.;)
