• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ron came over today and he changed his oil and sparkplugs and after pulling his air box off I got motivated to do mine. He was a nice guy and picked me up some new iridium plugs for my Spyder.

To change them out you pretty much have to pull the airbox, I know folks have done it with it in but man that would be a real pain. nojoke

My Juicebox is set just right. I've checked the plugs before after dialing it in and they looked the same. Ron's is a little on the lean side. We need to make some adjustments before we leave.

Mine is on the left and Ron's is on the right.

One of the reasons I want to try this is to get rid of that huge airbox. This gives you a lot more room to work on it.

As you can see I ran my cold air ducts to the filter to help get some cool air to it while I'm moving.

The install was real easy. The hardest part was getting the old airbox out.

I took it for a spin and all seems fine. It gets pretty loud around 4000 rpm but then quites right down. I wear ear plugs all the time so it shouldn't be too bad. I'll have about 2400 miles on this trip to see if I like it or not. I'll report back next week. :doorag:

 I'd like to use the KewlMetal intake also but the noise level would be a concern of mine. Looks good.

ps. Don't pet (or don't stop petting if you start) any big dogs this trip. :joke:

No Dogs This Trip! :lecturef_smilie:

I'm already taking care of the Parts Bike job - I don't need to be a Medic Too! :yikes:

He goes head to head with a MASSIVE - WILD - Dominant Male Buffalo and gets away with it, so you can understand why he didn't have too much concern for a mere dog....

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!! I love cold air for the fuel... Can't wait to read your take on this :2thumbs::doorag:

Have a safe trip! :spyder2:

LaMonster when I had my Air In-take installed I did the EXACT same thing you did as far as running a hose next to the Air-Cleaner,, my only concern was riding in a heavy rain storm,, I went back to factory with mine since then,, could never get the Juice Box tuned in right, there was always a hesitation in mine.. And for the noise, it was alright around town but for the long hauls on the interstate it got kind of annoying.. Anyway, is there any concern with water getting into the intake with the hose ran that close to the air-clearner, or is this of no concern brother?? Just thought I'd ask since I sold it to a member on the site and I'm sure he will take a look at this threat.. Your thoughts please sir??

I have been running open aircleaners for thousands of miles in all sorts of weather and never have had any issue. My old setup was ducted right to the airbox with no problems.

I installed mine some time ago to kill two birds with one stone:

1.- To get rid of the oil-in-the-airbox problem, as it was getting worse by the day, leaking down on the hot engine parts and smoking...

2.- To gain easy access to the front cylinder spark-plug and upper parts of the engine (IMHO a poor design in terms of maintainability).

The additional noise is a trade off that I am willing to pay (in fact I have already grown accustomed to it, coupled with the one from the Hindle...)

I check the oil level on a weekly basis, and before & after regular trips, but the blow by and consumption seems negligible now.

Now with those two mods my SE5 seems to run a little on the lean side but I would not want to mess with it again.

Saludos, Pilo
