There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. It might not even be you

My big lesson on "empowered" drivers happened in Houston. While at a red light, the two cars in front of me started a conversation - friendly like they had not seen each other for a while.

The light changed to green and they continued sitting there, talking and blocking the intersection for me and several other cars. The car next to me started honking their horn. One of the drivers rolled down their window and shot him a finger. The light turned red. The conversationalists continued talking until the light changed to green again and then drove through the intersection - the one who had given us the finger, drove off at a very slow pace and I was trapped behind him while all the other traffic went around him - while sounding their horns.

Finally I got around him, but had to stop for a red light. I glanced in my mirror and there he was - coming up behind me and not slowing down. CRASH! He was not going that fast, but the sound of metal on metal and the force told me, I had been smacked good.

After hitting me, he backed up, honked his horn and gave me the finger. Being overcome with stupidity, I got out of my Jeep and went to look at the damage. Just as I reached the back of my Jeep, he roared off, nearly hit me and went through a red light and down the street.

I had done nothing. I had not honked at him or revved my engine. Yelled. Flashed my lights. Or given him the finger. But here I was, stopped at an intersection the victim of circumstances I had nothing to do with. AND, I didn't even get his license number - though I knew it was a fairly new silver Volvo. :cus:

Well, I looked at the back of the Jeep - and then looked again, shocked - I could not find any damage. There was metal all over the pavement and liquids, but they didn't come from the Jeep. It appeared he had rammed the trailer hitch and ball and that had taken all the impact. A quick look showed all the bolts and welds were OK, I got back in the Jeep, relieved and when the light changed I drove off.

About a half mile down the road, there was the Volvo, sitting on the side of the road with a thick column of steam rising from its hood. As I drove by, I looked at the front of it and was surprised at all the damage to the grill - the ball and hitch on the Jeep must have punched through the grill and radiator, then when he backed up, it got hooked on who knows what else and ripped the crap out of them.

Instant Karma. I just drove on by and controlled my impulse to smile and laugh - you can never tell when Karma will occur. In one way, we were all lucky - very lucky. I didn't have any damage. I was not run over. Nobody in the crosswalk or in cross traffic was hit when he went through the red light. A tow truck and a repair shop got some business. And, the Volvo driver was given a lesson in the perils of losing their temper and becoming "empowered". If he didn't, I did - there are things worth being angry about and battles to fight, but there just is no way to win if you have lost your temper.

I live in Thailand and there is no road rage here that I have seen. There is terrible traffic congestion, horrible drivers, most don't have drivers license. People will stop anywhere, pull out in front of you without looking, turn around in the middle of the road blocking traffic etc. Most two lane roads have at least 3 lanes of cars and 3 or 4 lanes of motorbikes going in various directions simultanbeously. Its like playing dodgecars. Only traffic stops I have ever seen involved not wearing helmets on a motorbike. New law just passed, no more than 3 people on a motorbike. I still see 4 or 5 on a motorbike every day. When you get that many people on a 125cc motorbike it will be the second or third person back that is driving, depending on size of riders. Drunk driving is common here. If you get caught usually about $30 to the cop will solve the problem. If you are so drunk you can't stand up they will make you sleep it off a bit before sending you on your way. There are millions of motorbikes in Thailand as they are the primary mode of transportation here. There are countless deaths everyday as Thais love to go out and get blind drunk on sugar cane whisky and then try to ride their motorbikes home. It is easy to see how many crashed during the night as the police take a can of spray paint and paint a white circle on the pavement around the bike and body. I have a friend that was driving drunk a couple years ago, hit a bargirl on a motorbike head on and killed her. No ticket, no damn lawyer, no jail, no loss of license, no insurance premium increase. $5000 to the cops and $5000 to the family took care of the problem. It is called "an accident" folks, unlike in the US where someone must be punished and sued for everything they have. I think road rage is primarily an American thing. I have lived in many countries over the years and the US is the only place I have expierienced road rage.

I worry more about bad or distracted drivers. On my commute I have been nearly hit by the same lady in a silver mini van twice and yesterday saw her do the same to another bike in front of me.

Since a lot of you carry as written in the other thread and considering a car is qualified as a "deadly weapon" in certain situation .... one could consider his/her life is being threatened on a road rage situation especially if you are on a smaller m/c vs. a car.

Here go a can of worms that just got opened.

You're absolute right M2Wild . . . another vehicle (2, 3 or 4 wheels) IS a deadly weapon, but even with an 'equalizer' in your pocket, how do you think you're going to prevail over somebody who isn't being rational or playing with a full deck?

Let's say you use your deadly weapon to defeat their deadly weapon. . . . how is that going to resolve the situation or create a safe scenario for #1 yourself, #2 the other driver, and #3 any other person or vehicle that may become involved as a result of the encounter? and the friends and family of those who get tangled up in it?

I hate people like that.
Never had a problem on the bike except for one time w/ some dumba$$ woman on a cell phone on I91.

I have in the car so I pull over, let them pass and then chase them. I know it's not a good idea but I have a temper.

Totally agree, funny how they're not so tough when you corner them out of their car.

Yeah, on the morning commute I see pretty much the same cars everyday.
As well as the same idiots who will pass me like I'm standing still only to wait at the same light just ahead of me.....day after day.:gaah:
You might want to consider leaving a little earlier or later to avoid the silver minivan. Usually 10min either way changes almost everyone I see.

Leaving ten minutes later not only changes those around you, but the stress of the drive. Years ago I would stop at a 7/11 and play a couple of pinball game (about twenty minutes worth), and because so many cars would be further down the road I would have less traffic to deal with. Good thing was I would still get home at the same time too.

UGH!!!!! a close call for me yesterday right before I turn onto my street. Main road is a nice twisty leading up to my residential street. As I come around the corner I saw this effing beater truck starting to make an illegal pass around the bend .... he obviously saw me (I got like six freaking lights in the front of my Spyder plus the blinker) and veered back for just a fraction and then decide to pass anyway. I already slowed down and pulling towards the side anticipating this mofo gonna try to go for it. Good thing I did .... I didn't even have time to flip him off.:gaah:
