There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Vintage Motorcycle Days

Well, it's that time again...sorta. Vintage Motorcycle Days at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is this coming Friday - Sunday, July 9-11. This is a different weekend than in the past. Nancy and I will be at the event Thursday through Sunday. Nancy's Spyder will be there, but she said I have to leave mine behind. :shemademe_smilie: Seems she prefers our enclosed trailer as a bedroom, as opposed to the noisier tent camper that I can pull with my RTS. Oh, well! Not sure what I am taking for vintage bikes. BRP will have their demo trailer there, for those that want to take a Spyder ryde.

If any SpyderLovers plan to attend, look us up. We hope to see a few more Spyders there. We'll be working at the bike show all day Saturday, and we are staying in the campgrounds on site. Stop by and say "Hi."

Scotty, when you get a chance, take a ryde and check out my new dealership in Cement City. They have a collection of vintage motorcycles. They even have an AMF HD snowmobile circa 1970!

Scotty,

Does the Spyder qualify as a vintage bike? Geez, time flies? I still look at my bike and think of it as relatively new! :D

:roflblack: No, a vintage bike must be 20-35 years old, depending on the sanctioning organization. VMD is an amazing motorcycle event, though. 30,000-40,000 motorcycles of every make and model, and everything from 50's bikes to brand new models rolls through the gate to gawk and participate. The newer bikes can even take a "Lap for History" on Saturday or Sunday, which is a couple of parade laps on the track during the track workers' lunch break. Good ride destination! The Spyder serves as one of our "pit bikes". Mid-Ohio is a big place!

I know, I was teasing...I can't wait for my 1992 BMW 325iC to become an antique...lemme see...how about 7 more years? Argh...I'm getting old! Actually, I bought the car used in 1999...have only put on about 40k since then...nice to have a garage for it...

Off to the races...so to speak. I'm sure you will all be thankful for the peace and quiet in my absence. :D I'll be back next week. Hope to see some of you at Mid-Ohio.

Mid-Ohio is a big place!

My wife got a motorcycle endorsement and a Buell Blast because she didn't like riding on the back of the Spyder.

She's been modding the heck out of the thing. Now she's talking about going up to Mid-Ohio (we live in Columbus) for riding lessons so she can race. Can you imagine a 40-year-old mother of two in the Daytona SportBike series? :yikes:

ETA: She also plans to shim the carb needle and replace the jets as soon as she figures out what they are! :roflblack:

Follow-up

Well, we had a nice time at Vintage Motorcycle Days, once again. Nancy would not let us take the Aspen Sentry camper and ride two Spyders down. I will never hear the end of that one. Thursday evening it stormed like mad. We were safe and dry in our enclosed trailer, but the tent camper would have been a challenge. Some rowdy neighbors would have made it more so. It is quite quiet in the enclosed trailer.

I saw only a couple of Spyders there, and only one RT, although a few more RS Spyders were reported. Working the bike shows for two days straight limits what I see, so I am not surprised I missed a few. Sunday a nice young couple came by. She had a yellow Spyder like Nancy's. She said Nancy let her sit on the Spyder last year at VMD, and she had to have one. Bought it soon after. I told them about SpyderLovers. They would be a great addition to the group.

The Spyder demo crew was very busy all weekend. They had a lot more Spyders than previously, but were still booked solid before noon each day. Just visiting there a few times during the weekend, it appeared they were the busiest demo group. The Spyder continues to intrigue and attract new ryders.

Even when it gets muddy on the campground roads, the Spyder is a real blessing at VMD. The majority of campground paths are large cobbles, about baseball sized. Very tricky on a road bike! Not having to continually put your feet down at the stops, when traffic gets slow, is nice, too. I have enjoyed using the Spyder to get around...and it continues to draw a crowd and questions. I wish we could fit both Spyders into our trailer...or Nancy would let us ride down instead. I will admit that I would not have wanted to ride back late in the evening, after being so tired, but a Spyder would have been far safer under those conditions than a motorcycle.

My 1972 BMW R75/5 fouled a plug and left me on foot Saturday. Just shows that anything can and will fail at the most inopportune time. Sunday it crapped out completely just as I pulled back into the campground. I suspect some major difficulties, but will have little time to inspect it, with the Portland, Indiana, motorbike get-together this week, and the Wauseon, Ohio, antique motorcycle meet this weekend.

...and a good time was had by all!

Sounds like you need a toy hauler. We have a Jayco Talon ZX that will fit 2 Spyders no problem. We are planning on selling it. PM me if interested.
