• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New KewlMetal Mirror extensions

Any word on when the new KM mirror extensions will be available?
I am in desperate need of some mod - more so now that I have the risers installed.
I'm >< this close to getting the Up & Outs - but, that would mean having to have my windshield cut.

Our budget is tight - so, don't want to buy now and in a month something better is released.
I have several must have comfort/function items I need to get relatively quickly - mirror extensions & highway pegs are probably at the top of my list.

Tight budget, you in the majority here, I had to give up 3+ grand extra to Uncle Sam this year :yikes:. I didn't see this one. :(
Anyway I did the up and outs, and then I purchased the 23" Ultra Touring windscreen. I did not think I would have a fitment issue, but never the less, problem solved. I had never trimmed a windscreen before, but you can do it with only a few tools. A variable jig saw/ w fine tooth blade (24) tooth metal blade is what I used, and an orbit sander using 80 grit, 240 grit and finish with 400 grit. I used a white board marker to draw the line to cut, then used a new razor blade to pierce the surface along the line I was going to cut. Then covered the area to be cut with masking tape to protect the screen from the jig saw. Here are a few pics to show how it turned out.

Tough but good predicament to be in...I had the first generation KM extensions...were the best out at the time and worked pretty darn well...the up and outs are an obvious step ahead....as far as the new KMs go, I have no idea...I'm happy with the up and outs enough so that I have no need to change going forward...

Thanks! I saw your post earlier - and I think your trim job & mod looks really good.
I just don't know if my hubby would be able to do that (I don't even know if we have the necessary tools).
So, in that case...we would probably have to put money out for someone else to cut (no idea where or what the charge would be).
We're just trying to get the most cost effective, simple, quality fix for the mirrors. I know...god luck with all that. ;)

Boat shops usually can do it pretty cheap...I have a few guys in my riding group that have had their shields altered there...

My only problem with the up & outs is the compatibility issue with my windshield.
I was just hoping the new KM mirror extensions won't mean I have to do any other adjustments/mods to use them.
If not, then we go for the up & outs and modify my windshield.

Thanks for your feedback, though!
