Hi, everyone, and THANKS for the support and comments, greatly appreciated.



It was such an awesome ride, I had to come up and jot down some notes on it… which turned into this post. I'm glad that so many of you enjoyed 'the ride along with me'.


DynamoBT: 30F is not so bad, go for it. Just double up on long john's and an extra sweater (heated grips help ).

Great report and great pics. Good enough to make the front page.

Great write up. That Blue RS is awesome looking. Was that one pic at Signal Hill? MY GF and I are hoping to do an Eastern trip next summer. Unfortunately our riding buddies daughter is getting married July 16 2011 and we need to be back mid August. We may have to postpone until summer 2012. I really want to get out East, have a few Newfie friends that I used to work with in Fort McMurray, would like to spend some time visiting them. Of course all summer travel is done on the Spyders.

Great post ! Makes me miss the mountains and even the snow. Living in Florida can be really dull. Here you never have to "learn" how to turn because almost every road goes in a straight line...from one traffic signal to the next.

I enjoyed reading your remarks and looking at the great photos !

I am glad you were finally able to get it out into some sun and put some miles on. You also make me feel like a wimp for not ryding down here when it is in the low 40's.

That's 'cause you are a wimp!:roflblack: Heck, I was happy it was in the upper 40's when I left the house this afternoon. I didn't even have to put on my rain gear for wind blocking.

Here's how ya do it. Long johns and leathers for the 50's. Starts getting low 50's ya put on some "chinaman's underwear" (as we called it in the USAF) under the leathers. Then when it starts nudging the 30's you put Phrogg Togg's over the leathers for wind blocking. Gerbing heated gloves help too. There ya have it, ride year round.:2thumbs:

:roflblack: I hear you loud and clear. I would have to buy any heated gear online, as I have never seen a dealer anywhere around here carry any of it.

Ah, SpyderWolf, low 40's, that's a great riding day . My limit is -6C (about 20F).


Btw, I have just recently installed some heated grips, so that did help on my recent ride, and they worked great, with my water/wind proof lined riding gloves!!!

I should try and drum up some pictures of the installation of the hot hands to share, if anyone is interested?:dontknow:

Be advisted, that on any amount of snow, the Traction Control System (TCS) may kick in and prevent you from moving very far. I've tried it just a little at the edge of an empty parking lot to experience the effects myself, first hand, and I found that on my SM5 you have to really feather the clutch with a sensitive hand, otherwise TCS will kick in and you may stall, at least on a SM5.

I've not done any riding since this Ryde a few days ago, but I'm watching the weather like a hawk and waiting for a break in the precipitation to get out again! .


While riding through the city and stopping at red lights I've gotten some looks and comments for sure, but when riding I'm too focused on riding and traffic and the road and my controls to worry about that stuff.

The times when I've been out in the countryside or on paved back roads (my favorite type of riding), I didn't see anyone really, except for folks coming in the opposite direction.


Recently I've picked up a Battery Tender Jr., and today I've connected it, got a red solid light (means Charging), so while I'm not ryding, I'm paying my Spyder some good attention in our heated garage.
