• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Preparing for a trip tomorrow, down to Southern Utah, Escalante, and Tory.

Trying to get the iPhone to work on a 2026 S2S though.

I can get Bluetooth working, but as soon as I plug the USB cable in, Bluetooth drops in a few seconds. Playing with infinite iPhone settings, as per everything on the subject I can find, but still no success. I’ve checked the USB-C with my USB tester, the cables are all correct for data and power. Changing cables didn’t do anything differently.

Probably going to give up with CarPlay and just use Apple Maps on the iPhone and let the USB just power the phone. I’ll just couple my Sena SRL2 comms system to the iPhone and not the bike.

Shame there is so much aggravation when my 2017 entertainment system in my SUV just works first time and every time.

Any way, first decent trip on this new Spyder, so let’s hope all goes well and the weather holds out.

Safe travels.

I figured it out. You need a Bat connection from the rider to the bike. And a BT connection from the iPhone to the bike. Then the USB cable to the bike and no BT from the iPhone to the helmet.

Satanic.

I've now got the dongle from Spyder Extra connected as the driver helmet, with my helmet Sena SLR3 connected to the phone. The phone is NOT Bluetooth connected to the bike… The sequence that works for me is: start helmet; start bike; wait a few seconds; make sure the phone is unlocked; connect the cable to the phone. I have a 10 gig cable (not sure if that really makes a difference).

My Passenger or my wife on the F3 does the same and we talk on Mesh...

HI Mecsw500, Have a safe trip.

Today, I went for a ride and ran an errand.

Came home, washed the bike (from the weekend trip, a trip that was much needed), checked the tire pressures all around.

Arrived Escalante Tuesday. The road from Tory to Escalante has a part where it runs along the ridge of a rock formation. The road is only as wide as the ridge in parts with several thousand feet straight down each side. And it’s twisty. I apologize to all who drove behind me at 30mph, whilst I’m target fixated on the road and my wife admired the deep canyons, oblivious to me being absolutely terrified of heights. It gets up to 10,000 feet.

It chucked down with rain and high winds halfway across that section to make matters worse. In fact it was raining hard halfway down here. The new XPS branded Kendas did very well in very wet conditions I must say.

Beautiful day today as we road to Brice Canyon. It was 9,000 feet with high winds all the way.

Back on the scary road to Tory tomorrow for Capital Reef. I hope the sun continues to shine until we get back to the Salt Lake Valley Friday. I’m feeling sick at the thought of that part of the road already.

Went over to Slingmods today and picked up the PPA Orb wheels (polished) and the dual horn kit. Nice bunch of folks. Got a tour of their facilities. They keep a number of Spyders and Rykers around to make sure accessories fit as they are supposed to and to do the installation videos. They also have five or six Slingshots of various years and configurations. It is convenient that they are just down the road a bit from my dealer (Tri-County Motorsporrts).

I placed my 54L givi box on the rear rack of my 2016 F3L. I was still not able to get the rear seat off to check the air pressure in the bladder, but I will have to deal with that when I return. Loaded one saddle bag with the items that I hope to not need during the 2 week trip (tools, battery jump box/air compressor combo, tire plug kit, quart of oil, and rain suit). Loading the other saddle bag with bike cover and small cooler for snacks. The frunk area will be reserved for electronics and items that I want secured and dry without having to remember to lock it (really miss the central locking on the BMW K1600). Only thing left is a bag to be on the rear seat that will contain and extra set of riding pants, freezeout jacket, and extra pair of shoes. I also switched out the nice, but narrower windshield by Lamont for the wider and 1" taller shield from F4. It does not look as good, but will be a blessing should we get caught in any type of rain. Going to take it for a shackdown run today or tomorrow while checking tire pressure and fluid levels one more time. Hopefully i can say in 2 weeks that i have toured the entire lower 48 states.
