What did you do to your Spyder today?

I really dunno what you lot are complaining about... 🤨

Here in my part of South Oz, even with the Fuel Excise Relief package we got last month, until just recently we were been paying the equivalent of about $12 a US Gallon for our Std non-ethanol ULP (91 RON, basically the same as your 87 AKI Octane), up to about $1.00/gall more more for 95 RON (your 91 AKI); and a fair bit more again for our 98 RON Premium (your 93 AKI Octane - only I didn't pay attention to the price on our 98 Ron, cos I only use that on track/test days of late, and recently, I've only being doing that sorta thing in cars & 4WD's, with someone else paying! ;)) And due to the mods my V-Twin Spyder runs, I can get substantially better performance and fuel economy when running 95 RON than I can even riding ultra conservatively when running 91 RON! :cautious:

Admittedly, the price for ULP here has dropped a fair bit in the last week or so, as ongoing supplies have been found/guaranteed, and we're down to paying about the equivalent of $8.00-ish per US Gallon for now, but we don't have a high speed train to anywhere in this part of the Great Southern Land. And that Fuel Excise Relief package that dropped almost 30 cpl AUD off the price of all ULP here in Oz only lasts until 30 June 2026...

But on the other hand, we are getting the equivalent of about 60 mpg or better from our PHEV Bitsamissin, and of late, we only ever charge it off the daytime excess from our solar array (additional cost = $0!) 😁
What's a bittsamissin?

Decided to remove my Two Brothers carbon fiber muffler and put the OEM secondary muffler back on. Wanted to try a little quieter sound. Still running it with a RLS cat delete/baffle in. Oh yeah, that OEM muffler is a boat anchor!!! :)
Thinking I'm gonna do the same thing. My Two Brothers is Two loud for my bad hearing...

Thinking we dodged a bullet.
I recently purchased the Battery Tracker +Plus and installed it Friday morning. It showed the Xtreme AGM battery at 12.7 volts and charged level at 83%. The Spyder had been sitting for 5 days without being started or put on a tender, so I recharged it. Over the next 24 hours the battery leaked back down to 12.7v and 82% charge. I disconnected the leads from the bike, recharged again, it leaked to 12.8V & 90% charge. Simultaneously I was recharging the NOCO that I bought new in 2024 in anticipation of installing it. I transferred the Tracker +Plus to the NOCO while it was still on the shelf in the garage with charger removed, and over 24 hrs it leaked to 13.3V and 95% charge. I installed it last night, charged overnight again and disconnected the charger on my way out the door this morning. Its sitting steady at 13.3V and 95% charge.
We're leaving this weekend for a 3 week vacation on the Spyder, and I'm feeling really good about buying that Tracker!

Wow! A 3 week trip, that sounds great. I know you guys will have fun. Be careful out there.

whats a bittsamissin?

Many owners/off roaders (largely the 'All the Gear, No idea' mob!) call the AWD/4WD's in this make of vehicles "Mistsubishi's", but those who aren't just the 'All the gear, No idea' mob and who actually take their vehicles off road and into true 4WD terrain very soon find out why they are affectionally (maybe... or maybe not so much... :sneaky:!) called "bitsamissin's" by a significant percentage of the 'real' Oz off road community. 😁

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to figure out why they got that moniker. šŸ˜‹

I installed the Carpuride with a little help from my fellow Spyder buddy. I love this thing. It’s very secure on the top of the dash as you can see that the front of the screen rests on the top portion of the dash. I just taped down the mount to the dash as well. I don’t know why Can-Am did not create it this way. It’s so nice to have it up high so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road. Plus, you can use a touchscreen at any time.

Received the 2" floorboard risers and 2" brake pedal risers yesterday. I added the 1 1/2" risers but for my bike, I have the Corbin seat and it's higher than the stock. So, for me, it should help to give me a little more bend in my legs. For the wife, I think it'll help her as well because even with the 1 1/2" risers, I think they're still not enough for her to be 100% comfortable; even though she never complained about it. I'll be making the changes tonight and tomorrow.
I ordered my 2025 Spyder RT Limited today and since I don't have it in front of me, I have a question.

Does the 1.5" brake pedal riser still provide enough brake pedal travel with the 2" running board riser before your foot contacts the running board?

I was just wondering, concerned that with raising the boards up 2" maybe you could bury the brake pedal down into the board before reaching full braking effort.
Any comments?

Thanks!

HI Spyderladyf3t,

I will. It is very difficult for me to relax, I am hard wired for being on the go. I am accustomed to high stress levels.

You sound like my wife. All trips and vacations are prepared on a spreadsheet with precise timing and an impossible list of destinations. I think a cruise would actually kill her. She’s a few years older than me and couldn’t retire until I hit 65 for health care. She’s seventy now and still didn’t want to retire to be honest. I have more honey-do lists than I can complete before I die. She of course is the Foreman and has extremely high QA standards. Tomorrow is water-Zumba at 8:30 am. I have to walk around the track. Being married to a type A personality can be exhausting. I’ve developed this ā€œYes honeyā€ response as it’s easier that way. It can still all be my fault of course. But I get to live in doors and get fed.

HI mecsw500,

I have multiple things going on at the same time. I get things done/completed. I also have a type A personality. I have high goals for myself.

I packed the Spyder for my "playing Tourist" trip for tomorrow. I just have the last minute items to finish up in the morning.

Buffed out a couple scratches on the newest 2018 RTL, installed foam grits, put a second strut on the top case lid, put a new longer/stronger strut on the seat. Found it has the longer brake pedal that my 12.5-13 shoes do not like. And put my trade mark fish hook on the frunk lid.
