There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Recall - 2017-2019 RT and F3 Engine Output Shaft Can Break!

Just got my letter in the mail today. If they replace my engine at 58k miles that would be a bargain.

Nice thought, but isn't going to happen. Like Woodaddict says. The affected part is the transmission, not the engine.

I'm wondering if BRP could start swapping out transmissions, taking the cores and have them remanufactured (installing the new output shaft) and cycle through the problem that way. It would add issues and might not be cost effective. But swapping out whole transmissions (since you have to pull the transmission anyway) would definitely reduce customer down time and technician errors (returns). And speed the repair process, assuming BRP would dedicate a crew to the process.

Now we all know BRP isn't worried about us. :gaah: :gaah: :gaah:

Got my recall notice in the mail today. My 17 RTL was produced in January 2017.
I wish they would replace the whole transmission instead of just replacing the shaft. I have 37000 miles on mine now and that would give me all new clutches too. Faster turn around too like others have said.

Does anyone know how long this repair could take?

If I understand the Recall Notice correctly, so far, no one even knows what the 'repair' will involve, because BRP haven't developed any 'repair' yet! I believe their email/letter says:

"The corrective actions for this recall are under development and are NOT yet available."

That is supported by the NTHSA Recall Notice where, under the section entitled 'Description of Remedy', it states that the 'remedy is under development' See that here:

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCLRPT-24V728-6670.PDF

So the answer to your question, Ruling, is simply - No one knows - Not yet, anyway!

I received an Important Recall Notice this week from BRP concerning engine output shaft can break - potential loss of drive power. This is for certain Spyder RT and F3 models 2017 to 2019. No fix available yet until January. Any others get this notice?
Thanks,
Jim

It really helps to look at current threads before posting.

On the other hand. It's job security for moderators... :)

Reminds me of the early eighties when Chrysler had a huge problem with their transmissions. My Dodge Caravan went through 5 transmissions (all under warranty) before they finally bought it back. The dealer told me that Chrysler was running 2 transmission assembly lines, one for new units and the other for rebuilding the defective ones. Swapping out the entire transmission seems the way to go IMHA.

Got my recall notification today for my 2018 RTL. Thankfully my F3S is a 2015... The rebuild idea is great, but it needs seed trannys. Maybe they'll swap in new trannys until they get enough used ones to rebuild. It'll be interesting.
