A mature product at last?

I have been checking postings from new Spyderlovers and fewer a fewer issues come up. It look like if you have a late 09 SE or SM with the “update of the update”, the coil ground wire, updated parking brake, foam in your fuse and relay boxes etc. you have an “all-fun no-grief “ Spyder. I am posting this because I know prospective buyers check this forum and sometimes get discouraged by old threads. Add to this to price incentives to clear the floor for the 2010 models and a new 2009 Spyder may be the smartest purchase there is.:2thumbs: Quality third party suppliers as the ones that sponsor our forum have products that fix any ergonomic or storage issues those new buyers can have.

I agree! My only problem in 1.5 years was the Gear Position Sensor, which I fixed myself.

The Roadster has not been to the dealer at all for maintenance/warranty work except for the first one... 600 miles.

Close behind you. 27,000 miles on an SE5 and only had 625 service, rear tire replacement, upgrades, and riser done by dealer. It's a "Hummer"!

There is absolutely no reason to avoid earlier models -- at least the 2009.

I agree, I mentioned "late 09s" because is the easiest way for a new buyer to make sure that all updates are in.

I have a good bike too. I had/have the pesky power steering problem but that is in remission for now.

Here's the thing-I have heard often about putting the foam in the relay/fuse box. I have never had a problem with a loose relay, so I probably had 25,000 miles on my bike before looking in the fuse box.

Inside the cover is a piece of die cut foam that has a pressure imprint of all of the relays embossed on it. There really is no room to add anything in this area.

This makes me think that a few of these bikes got off the production line without this piece installed. Mine is number 625 so I doubt that this is a late addition

I've only been for maintenance and for a luncheon hosted by the dealership! The bike runs great and the JB makes it a little more fun to ride (if you can believe that!)...

I love my Spyder...trying to get some time to ryde it!

My '09 Spyder continues to purr like a kitten. Had the 600-mile service done, and the first update. She's been a faithful ride...and a great one.:f_spider:

I have just started having a minor issue with my 09 SE5, but am hoping to get the latest update installed tomorrow in order to correct it.

I have bought 2 of these in the last month, mine and my wife's, and have no choice but to highly recommend them. :thumbup:

I am "mature", in my 60s.

My Spyder runs MUCH better than I do and is always ready to go. I think it is smarter than I am and ( being an SE5 ), it shifts better than I can - after 45 years of manual motorcycles. According to everyone who comes up to ask questions, it looks like it is more fun than me. AND, it is an 08.

If I didn't enjoy it so much, I would be envious.

We have a gentleman who lives in the next town over who is 76 and loves putting around on his 08 Spyder. Once he saw us on mine, he followed to the gas station and we spoke for an easy 1/2 hour. When he found out that mine was an electronic transmission he stated that is the only thing he wished his bike had that it doesn't. He had a custom made windscreen, painted helmet to match, and floorboards. :2thumbs:

Getting close to 15k and the only issue I had was a dead Power Steering box out of the crate. So, I've got 7k without PS and 8K with PS. I recommend the WITH! hyea:

Other than that and some oil in the Air Box (which got fixed right away) it's been getting better every time I ride it. :2thumbs:
