• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My brakes have been noisy from day one (allmost a year). My dealer told me the updated pads were on backorder for 9 months now.Now they tell me brp is not going to cover brake pads, but they can sell me some aftermarket pads for 140.00 for the pads.I own other brp products and need some repair also. They are under the 3 year brp warr.Well they say the other things I need to get repaired are not covered either.
So I called the next dealer 80 miles away, told them what I needed repaired.Didnt tell them my story. They said everything is covered on all my brp products, and they had the brake pads in stock.......Had my pads replaced today.FREE.
So why would my dealer that I have spent over 25k with not cover anything?I am a rolling billboard, why would you burn me down?will never send anybody there again! But guess where I will send them.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I feel better now.

It's called profit margin vs. customer service. Each dealer makes this choice on every transaction.

I agree. Write your dealer and spell it out for them. Then take their tags and adverts off your bike. Get some from the other dealer and move on with your Spydering!

Is that the same dealer you had problems with in the beginning...paperwork, etc. The guy is stupid and a crook. If ripping someone off is how he stays in business, makes you wonder how smart his "customers" are. Move on and Ryde On.

:agree: yes write him a letter and tell him like ti is and then every time you pay for service some where els send him a copy of the recept os he knows what he is missing out on.

Yes thats the same one.He has only one thing on his side,he is about a 10 mile round trip for lots of customers. The next dealer is allmost 180 miles round trip.Kinda sucks to have to drag my other toys to another dealer,if I have to drop them off and come back thats another 180 miles round trip again.I wish it was like the honda, kawasaki, suzuki dealers around here we have 2 or more each within 20 miles.By time I get off work I have 30 minutes to get there before they close.Or take a vacation day.:-(

I've fixed the squeaky rear brake by removing the pads and greasing the backs with a high temp brake grease. Adjusted them to the spec in the manual when I hooked it all back up.

1000+ miles so far and NO squeak, not even a little.

I got the updated pads today,no more squeek. The spyder stops better now also.

Unless they greased the back of the pads it's likely the squeaking will return once enough brake dust & dirt cake up on the back of the pads again. This is what's causing the vibration to create the squealing IMHO.

Let us know how the new pads work out after several hundred miles.

Glad to hear it's fixed your problem!

brake pads are handled case by case, according BRP.
it's your dealer's job to push BRP hard enough or make strong case for you that your brake infact do have problem. most of ryders did get their pads done under warranty.

in that note, if i give up on spyder it will not be because of quality or glitches or how BRP is dealing with it. it will be because bad dealer service. i know some of you are far from the dealership and have no other choice of dealership but one that's close to you. even thou i live in a metro area with quite a few dealership i am not going to enjoy going too far for service. i put alot of miles on my spyder (averaging 3000 a month) and if i have to go 70 miles everytime i need something done (my spyder has been in shop for various problems 13 times for total of 65 days in 9 month) i don't think i can handle that...
one dealer does not wanna deal with my problematic spyder because they are loosing money on it, other one is willing but they did not do most of the stuff on the list on my 12k service... they charged me their set price for the 12k service and only did valve check basically. i had my suspicion so i called the spyder mechanic in training that was working on my spyder and asked him and he confessed not doing all the other things on the list...
when i confronted head mechanic, he got very defensive and said i have a choice not to bring my spyder here for service...

I hear conflicting reports are new brake pads covered by BRP as my back squelling has got worse since the emergency brake got fixed

BRP covered the cost of my pads. My brakes were making a god awful noise like a dying dog @ only 800 mi. on the machine. I still get a little squeak once in a while, sounds more like a chirping bird(a noise I can live with).

The dealer that fixed mine told me that there is a service bulliten, and they are only fixing them if someone complains.
Thats the way it is where I work.If you complain,I can duplicate the problem, there is a service buliten, its under warr. then it gets fixed under warr.

Even then, it is also tied to the VIN# and the mileage. Free replacement up to a certain mileage for eligible Spyders that complain, free pads/owner pays labor for the next mileage segment, beyond that at owner's cost. That's the way the dealer explained it to me. Sorry, I forget the mileage divisions. BTW, ours was eligible for free replacement but I turned them down. They no longer do the first service bulletin fix, with the CRC products.

Your correct.I have not read the bulliten but there is a long list of things to meet.Mileage, has to fall in the vin# range, usually time, cant have a salvage title.and the pads cant be worn out.etc,etc.They are all different and can be changed at any given time....
We get people all the time who find out about bullitens and bring there car in and want something for free. They think we can just hand out free stuff..
Happy so far with the new pads.everyone could hear my old ones over my LOUD EXHAUST and it is LOUD.I think they were made on a friday......
