• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I was looking at building a bike the same as mine ( 2018 rtl ) and it shows the cargo light that comes as part of the package . Am i missing some thing as i do not see it on my bike .:sour:

On the '14s is on the left front side of the frunk and the frunk liner may be obscuring it. It is a switched light so you need to have the ignition key on.

Yup!
Left-Side: about a quarter of the way down from the nose. Feel around a bit, and you should come across an indented area...

I have a 2014RTS-SE6 and I'll look on the left side of the frunk, and frunk liner.

Facing the bike, it’s about halfway down and about 5-6” right of center. It helps to use a flashlight in the dark to find it. 😁

If you have the base RT I don't believe it came with the frunk light. One of the goodies left off to cut the price.

I have a 2014 RT-S. if I'm not mistaken, the light was standard equipment only on the Limited model.

I checked my frunk. There's a round plastic plug on the "firewall" (rear end of the frunk) where the light can be mounted. I see no utility for a light in the frunk. I would rather BRP have mounted a power socket somewhere in the cockpit, for powering heated clothing and electronic accessories. But that would be logical, and we can't have that.

The light was standard in the RTS, just not the basic RT. The plug you see at the back of the frunk is for the optional 12 volt power outlet, just like the one in the trunk.

The light is in the left front corner of the frunk. The arrow points to it in this pic. You can see it in the mirror.

O k so i found the light ,but it does not work .Had the bike running with the lights on ,nothing . It is going to the dealers today for the 12.02 reflash ,they can fix it.
Thanks for all the directions as to where it is .:)

For what it's worth: the light isn't very effective. If you can get the power to it: you can always wire in something that can do a MUCH better job!

Unknowing our Spyder already had the frunk LED, I was given one of these optional LED frunk lights as a gift. BRP sells them as an add on option.

Undecided initially if I should return it or utilize the LED, I waited. As luck would have it, someone here was selling a new in the box frunk BRP LED kit which I bought for short money.

With two LED optional frunk lights in hand, I installed both in the trunk. The location is out of harms way. I wired it into the frunk wiring circuit.

Easily lights the entire rear trunk when needed.

As for lighting the frunk, overall, the oem small LED does fine in most cases. If more light is needed, with the frunk lid opened, I use the headlights and easily light up the frunk.

Frunk light source

Hunting around I've located the light socket and though it's a short wire (using a small mirror) I see the bulb-fitting which <appears> to have burned out (at least, it's not lighting-up).

Can anyone help with these questions: Can the bulb-fitting be replaced? Is there a rocker-switch somewhere in the frunk-opening device that provides power to the bulb when the frunk is opened? What might a source be for a bulb replacement? And, using the power source to this light-fitting is there a <better use of the wiring harness> in this location, perhaps for an improved light-source?

Thanks to this discussion-thread I've found ANOTHER feature on my '14 RT-SE6 that to-this-point I'd missed. This chat-room is a wonderful source of info for me.
