• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Forgotten Cars from your youth

Remembered cars

your all spring chickens...my first was a 37 oldsmobile....then a 48 willys jeep..:yikes:

My father and his brother brought from their parent's house in Manistique, Michigan, a 1931 Olds two door. Still had the wooden spoked wheels, and hand crank. Nothing wrong with the interior, or exterior. Front bumper needed to be replaced, and the body could have been repainted. And it sat in our garage from 1976 to 1996. My father had the thought of restoring it, but developed leukemia and passed away in 1978. I enlisted in the Navy in 1976, and left it in 1996, and on returning home, my mother stated that she wanted her garage back, and to sell the car.
Another early car was the 1957 Henry J, which was later taken for the demolition derby by my father's brother. On graduation from high school, I was given a 1960 Plymouth Valiant wagon with the push button transmission. Should have restored that car. But everyone has their favorites.

Not one of your "main stream" cars. Mopars etc were a dime a dozen. Nice but plentiful.

Not exactly from my youth but not common either. Ford Capri V6Ford Capri V6.jpg

As I recall; they were sold as Mercurys down here.

I agree!

My friend's husband still has his! We drove it to Colorado to ski one time and in western Kansas in the middle of the night, we had to push it to pop the clutch to restart it. Dead tired by the time we got to the slopes.

Yes, it depended on where they were sold but were the same car. Then there were the Capri II models which were the same as the Mustang models but for some cosmetic differences.

I took my drivers test on my Mom's '58 Edsel (passed the first time). My first car was a '60 Ford Fairlane, that I received as partial payment for working on my Uncle's farm that summer. I then bought a '67 Mustang fastback from another Uncle (wish I still had that one). Next, I had a '74 Lincoln Mercury Capri V6, loved that little car. I've also had an '85 Dodge Daytona 2x2 turbo. This was my favorite of the cars I have owned. 'Cuda.jpg My '65 Impala SS was a close second. Factory 300hp 327 with a 4 speed Muncie.

Teacher at school had one and I loved that car. I got the new body style and it wasn't the same.:( Traded it for my Duster and then a custom RX7 with an engine build by a guy that built them for Roger Mandeville who raced for Mazda.

Had a long list of toys including my '72 Duster, '72 Triumph TR6, '79 Fiat x 1/9, custom built '79 RX7. The Triumph was probably a favorite and more of an accomplishment as I did a ground up rebuild in an apartment parking lot while an airman stationed at MacDill. The first photo was after some guys from the lab came over and helped lift the body off the frame and put it on 4X4's and the second was after it was back together and I was driving it. Took it all the way to painting but never did. Knew that would be it's best shape and time to sell and I didn't want to.

this looks a lot like my 1948 Chevy Fleetmaster Convertible. GMC truck engine bored and stroked to 301,36 chev transmission,3 deuces on a home made manifold, it was hot for the day. The color is close. Iridescent Plum from a 1956 Dodge. 1948 Chev.jpg

Hi vided,

Re: I had a mr2

I had an '86 MR-2; really fun car to drive.

PS) My senior year in high school I had a '32 Ford 5-window coupe. That one is the one I really wish that I still had:
