• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need Advice, my local dealer has been dropped and I need to do the recall

So 2-3 weeks ago I was at the dealer for a parking brake issue. They had to order a part to fix it. When I received the recall notice I thought I would just wait until the brake part came in and I would get it all done at once.

Yesterday I called to see what the hold up was on the parking brake fix and that is when I found out they are no longer authorized for any warranty work. They are still trying to get the original parts they had ordered in, but it seems like things are up in the air.

So now I am really SOL. I live in eastern Wa and the next closest dealer is either in Portland (3.5+ hours) or in western Wa which is just as far. I had great service with my dealer (Shumate motorsports) and they had carried BRP for a number of years.

Does anyone have any advice for me? I called the BRP recall number and basically was just given information about the location of other dealers. Does anyone know of someone in BRP that I should complain to? This situation is just ridiculous. It would be my luck that I would get to Portland and end up having a problem where my DPS unit would need to be replaced.

I can't recall the name of the guy or how to contact him but a few folks on here, like Nancystoy, had a direct line to a BRP -> Spyder owner liason who was supposed to help you with your gripes, problems, unanswered questions, etc.

Oh please give me that number Man that stinks I could almost be at there factory in about that time hope they work it out but I guess they won't to load up there dealers with things they can not sell :gaah:

Carlo was the name I was thinking of. Seems like others mentioned his name in dealing with Spyder problems also. While at the LA event, the Spyder top brass mentioned that they had a customer support person devoted to us owners and I assume they are talking of Carlo. I don't know if this is an extension of or an upgrade from BRP's "the Spyder team" that may or may not get back with you or help you.

I don't have a direct line, but BRP did eventually contact me. Since then they have set up email support at [email protected]. Carlo is the person handling this. I doubt he can do much about dealer franchises, though. He seems to be more of an expiditer for warranty issues, but approval of any fixes is still up to the factory tech people, not him. Lamont posted the link a while back. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10017

Carlo is exactly what you say. He is an expediter of warranty issues and a good one. He's quick to contact you back; but, he said not to give his phone number out. The initial contact is through e-mail. My issue was with the shock cams.

Thanks for the info about the tech support email address. I sent a quick email describing the situation and hopefully I will get some sort of response next week.

Hello and welcome from another, tho relatively new, Washington-ion! We moved here and just moved into our new apartment yesterday. We are originally from MI. There are around 6 or 7 known to me Spyder owners around the Greater Seattle area.

I m sure you have checked out dealers nearest to you. I go to Lacey for my maintenance needed by a dealer. There isn also one in Lynnwood and another in Mt Vernon. One gave up thier Spyder franchise, located in Kent.

I m recently "retired" so if you are planning a soujourn to one of these dealers, let me know and maybe we can meet.:2thumbs:

Hello draboo,

If I have to make the trip to the west side for maintenance I will let you know :2thumbs:

I have relatives in Olympia so it would be a chance to visit them.

take care,
