• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Finally finished my saddlebag project. Thanks to the previous threads about these bags, they are priced right and really work well on my STS. A shout out to Touchup Direct for their paint, it matched perfectly, as they are the only company that seems to have the Circuit Yellow paint.:clap: IMG_0355.jpgIMG_0360.jpgIMG_0361.jpgIMG_0352.jpgIMG_0362.jpg

Brackets?

Those look really nice. I have them on my wish list. I didn't really like the brackets they showed in the eBay ad. Can you tell me what you did and possibly post some pictures, or a link if there is another thread? Thanks and again they look good.

:agree: I would like to see the mounting system. My current Bags prevent me from removing the rear panels a real pain when I do any work in that area :chat: :nopic: jtpollock

THE MUTAZU CASES / BAGS

My good buddy ..... Jim Von Baden did the original Thread on these side cases ..... He mounted them on His wife's STS ( they also fit the F-3's ) ..... So go to His ...Threads and look for it there .... He posted over a Dozen great pics ........including some mods to the Mounting Brackets in the Kit ......... Mike :bbq:

Mounts

I like the round tube Jim used, but fetermel's do not seem to have the bar crossing from bag to bag in the back. That is the main aspect of the included mounts I hate. Jim's is better, but it still there. I would love to hear or see of some possible ways to eliminate this bar.

I mounted mine without the bar crossing. I will take some pictures tomorrow of what I did.

IMG_0367.jpgIMG_0383.jpgIMG_0381.jpgIMG_0372.jpgIMG_0373.jpgHere is some pic's of the mounting brackets for the bags. I found that fastening the back bar to the rear frame up over the tire made the bags a lot more solid. Hope this pic's help.

I am new to the round bar fabrication. Can you tell me what bar you used? What did you use to bend with, Just a conduit bender? what is used in the bar ends to attach the bolts? Thanks.

Those look pretty good. Glad the paint worked out. Recently tried some ColorRite and it didn't match worth a damn.

1/2" round tube stock from Menards or Home Depot can buy it 3or 4 foot length's. I was able to mark my bend spots and clamp it in a vise and make all the bends by hand. The ends where the bolts go in, I threaded with a 7/16 tap. It took some trial and error but actually went well.

Here is some pictures on how I braced it verses brace from bag to bag.bags5.jpgbags1.JPGbags2.JPGbags4.jpgbike1.jpg I braced them at the same location that the GIVI bags are braced. By the passenger footrest.

Was that 1/2" Conduit pipe you used?
Thanks, David
