• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Belt Tension

Have a 2016 F3T and have been experimenting with belt tension. Set the belt tension at 160 with the krikit ll gauge and 98 percent of the vibration went away. Can roll the throttle in 6th gear from 45-80 mph with almost no vibration and if the dealer had set the tension there I would have never known about the vibration problem. I was just wondering if I can have another kind of problem setting it there.

Depends....

Not if you are setting it to the lower side of the manufacturer spec's. The high side or above can cause problems...

I had mine set to 200 with almost no vibration. And I lowered it to 190 and now I can feel the vibration in my foot pegs almost all the time and that's measured with wheel on ground and bottom belt. Maybe I'll have to try and get it lower.

Are you measuring with back wheel off the ground or on the ground. And are you measuring the bottom belt or top belt.

Thanks

My 2015 F3 is 160 with wheel on the ground and I have very little vibration so I will leave it there. 160 is Better than 200 unless your rich?

Aren't the current tension specs much lower than what you are setting yours at? I would need to double check the chart, but that new F3 spec is very low and below the Krikit II range.

For comparison, our 14 RTS is at 140 ish per the specs and the F3 I know is less.

Where is the location of "the new F3 belt tension spec" ????

I'm getting the BRP tensioner installed Monday. I hope this fixes the vibration issue all together.

I had a True Laser Track alignment completed on my 2015 F3-S a couple of weeks ago but in the interim had picked up a two-wheeled Harley Road King that I have been extensively wrenching on to get it road worthy (have to have a little fun on two wheels occasionally). Today, I went out on a 120 mile test ride to see how the alignment worked on various different roadways. It was tracking pretty straight before the alignment but now tracks like it is on rails. One thing I noticed is that the slight vibration I would have between 68-74 mph has almost diminished to nothing after the alignment. It seems that there may be a lot of "moving parts" to the vibration issue and the True Laser Track alignment I had done by Doc over in Folkston, GA seemed to help and/or almost eliminate the vibe issue. I also wanted to see how it performed at higher speeds out on the lonely country roads I was on. The great amount of air I was pushing with my new F4 Customs windshield and Baker Air Wings seemed to make the front end a bit squirrely at about 94 mph. Mind you, this was merely a test and I have no intention of wanting to ride a Spyder at those speeds with ANY regularity (my true sport bike days are well behind me). My F3-S is my "sport trike" and as such, it is wonderful in the twisties and very pleasantly responsive. I like being able to use the foot pegs for balance in the tighter turns. I was wearing some stiffer armored Alpinestars sport riding boots that worked exceptionally well. I think I pretty much have it exactly as I will want to keep it with no additional farkles wanted. I love the grunt of the ACE 1330 when you get on the throttle. All in all, since getting an extended warranty, this trike will be in the arsenal for the next several years.
