RECC - Audio Icon

Brand new owner of a 2010 Spyder RT SE5 with the Audio Package. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can give this bike a good ride.

Trying to get familiar with the RECC, mainly to get the radio figured out. Going through the Quick Reference Booklet and I can get functions like the Trip meter and so on. But when I click the Mode button it skips right from the Default Riding Icon to the Trip Meter and then the Preferences icon. Never highlights the Audio icon.

Any idea if I'm doing something wrong or do I have some kind of a malfunction?

That's the way it was advertised by the dealer. I do have an antenna on the back which I would assume wouldn't be there if I didn't have the package.

I was wondering the same thing as I was trying to do some setup last night.

Two possibilities come to mind.
The radio is present but not plugged in or a fuse (fuse 6) has blown.

The radio is under the seat on the right hand side just under the passenger hand grips.
It can be seen by lifting up some of plastic (Tupperware) on that side.
It is a silver box .
Use a flashlight to peer under the plastic. You may need to remove two torx head screws.

As far as the antenna being present, I'm not at all certain that is an indicator of a radio.
BRP wired these up for all accessories.

Stopped by the dealer today. Three service guys looked at it and were stumped. They will file a case with BRP on Monday to see what they think. Said BRP is real good about getting back to them with some ideas so I hope to know something by Tuesday. Will post results when I hear something.

Radio could be defective, not getting power or not connected to the CAN-BUS

There was a Service Bulletin for radios on the 2010-11 models.
It was a fix for water intrusion into the radio via the antenna lead.
If that was not done on your 2010 it is very possible your radio is dead if it was left out in the rain.

:thumbup: & :congrats::welcome: That however makes me wonder how the dealer let you of the lot with out showing you everything first:lecturef_smilie::dontknow: Understand many have left tool kits & spare keys in the excitement when getting "new to them" spyders :doorag: . Just hope your dealer can help you out & all turns out well:firstplace:

My fault more than the dealer. I had a nine hour drive ahead of me so I was in a bit of a hurry. Fortunately we have a dealer 30 minutes away from where I live which makes this quite a bit easier. If we had some used Spyders around here it would have been easier to find one to buy!

Completely understandable glad you have one close. Least you arnt doing the 9hrs back just for radio. Hope your local dealer can/will still assist. You may even get to meet other local spyders if your lucky

Got a call from the dealer today. BRP said to pull the gauge cluster and replace it with one from their inventory to see if the audio icon works on the new one. Can't get it in until next Tuesday, but at least I can ride. If it is the cluster it could get a little pricey. Mentioned the Service Bulletin about the possible water damage to the radio from the antenna lead. Didn't seem to be familiar with the bulletin but the dealer is new to Can-Am and they also are being as helpful as they can be.

Your gauge cluster is working normally if the radio was not installed. My thinking is if the gauge cluster is not seeing the radio. So I would do the easy stuff first. Is there power and ground to the radio. Should be easy enough to check with a voltmeter. Is the CAN bus connected to the radio. Continuity check of the bus wires should be done. If they both appear fine I would point to a internal problem with the radio.

Having one icon not working on a gauge cluster that otherwise is operational would seem to be pretty unusual. Not having any experience with cycle repair, especially electrical I'm glad to have the service department handle this. Just hope this isn't the first of numerous trips in....

Thanks for the video! The shrink wrap is a good idea and something I might be able to do. It's just all those words I use when I'm removing and trying to reinstall the plastic!!!
