• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I just hit a deer.

More precisely, she hit me. Right front LED is cracked. Right mirror is gone. I had a straight tracking Spyder from the dealership, bet I'll need an alignment now :( Right front fender support cracked. My right forearm is a little scraped and my throttle is sticking. I made it home okay though. So much for my first brand new vehicle. Almost made it 9000 miles with no repairs.

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear that. Glad you got away with scrapes and bruises. It would be good to put the deer to good use-maybe venison stew? :)

We have a bunch of deer around, I have to REALLY watch out for them because they blend in so well. I hope you get your Spyder fixed soon and enjoy riding again!

Count yourself lucky! You got to ride your home! Both bruised but you get to tell the tale!

hitting deer

I am so sorry to here this. Hope everything is ok with your arm. I know what you mean by deer running into you because we had hit two this year. The first at beginning of riding season, a lot of damage to the bike, but thankfully no damage to us. The second at beginning of fall. Was going around a hairpin turn at low speed and not much damage to the bike but a small crack at the left front. No damage to us again thankfully. Deer are especially crazzzzy this year.:banghead:

So glad you came through with only scrapes! You'll be back on the road before you know it. Happy Thanksgiving

Very glad to hear that you are ok!!
The Spyder can be fixed, but after loosing a good friend earlier this year to a deer strike on his Spyder any day you can walk away from one is a good day.
I am hopping you mend fast and your Spyder is back on the road quickly!

I am so sorry for your loss.

Was the major impact point on the bodywork, or the wheel? If it's the former; the frame will be okay. If the wheel took the shot; have the dealership look the front of the frame over with a fine-toothed comb. nojoke
Glad to hear that you're okay! :2thumbs:
Bikes can always be fixed. People: not quite so much!

That sucks, glad to hear you are OK. The deer may not been hurt too bad like a car would do. Deer are very tough.

I hit a deer in my truck in March, I don't want to try it with a my Spyder. I hit a dog in the early 90's with my GSXR1100 and totaled the bike ,I was VERY lucky only had minor injuries. I don't like animals to suffer, so my CHP comes in handy on occasion in the Piedmont of NC.

This was just posted on Deerlovers.com...

"Backwards riding trike hit me last night while out for casual walk. I was out last night with the misses, minding my own business as usual. When we happened upon a roadway, I looked twice as we deer always do, and I started across when all of the sudden out of nowhere one of them crazy people carrier things came flying along. The misses ran off to get help immediately while i was just a bit shaken up. I had a few scrapes on my left side hoof, and quite a black and blue eye. Will these human folks ever slow down when they know we're here?"

Glad your ok! Spyder can be fixed

That deer probably didn't live...
The initial fear response will take them about 100 yards off the road; then they shock out and die... nojoke

(Seen this about a hundred times...)
