There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. New Brakes - Fault Code C0042 - anyone know what's going on?

I just replaced front brake pads, rotors, and rear tire. Now the 2013 RT Limited throws Brake Faults on display. Tried the display reader trick and received a C0042 code which isn't anywhere I can find. Anyone know what's going on? I had a stuck caliper that started all this and now my pedal is softer than it's ever been. Not sure I like the long travel.

I just took it out again and verified. Sort of random events cause it but definitely I get BRAKE FAILURE message and then the console can be used to display C0042.

Tough read on image but helped find the page in my manual. Now to figure out WTH that module is located. Looks like under front Tupperware.

looks like somewhere around the front suspension area under the tupper ware.. behind wheel area

I think you need to be connected to the Buds system to activate the VCM and bleed it
I read that somewhere
should not need to bleed VCM unless you allowed the brake reservoir to suck in air

You can bleed the brakes without BUDs but it wont bleed the ABS system as you cannot open it without BUDs.
While doing this work never turn on the key. If you do it can log a fault that you might not be able to clear without BUDs.

I can't say anymore what I have done or not done with or without the key. I would suspect the good news is the error messaging will 'clear' itself from the display every time I shutdown the bike and will randomly rear it's ugly head during the next test ride or two.
This all began back at the dealership when they 'mis-informed' me, do not want to go back there for BUDS service.

Still shocked that no one has chimed in with a definition of a C0042 code!
Site search yields zip. WWW search yields all but this vehicle.

I looked in all the code documents I have including the new list that was published for 2014/15 and the new F3's.
That code is not in any list I have! But it is inbetween codes all related to the VCM and brakes.

works for cars, won't hurt to try, find loose gravel about 30 mph apply brakes hard so abs activates, do several times, this purges air out of system in a car, don't see why it won't work on spyder

Sort or new to forum. C0042 is a VCM code meaning low brake pressure switch (LPS). good luck J. Clark

possible causes of C0042.
LPS activated,
Low brake fluid,
Brake fluid leak,
Air in hydraulic brake system
LPS circuit failure,
Master cylinder piston seal failure,

possible service actions,
Check LPS
Check brake fluid level,
Inspect for brake fluid leak,
Bleed brake system to remove air in hydraulic brake system
Check LPS circuit,
Replace Master cylinder :opps:

That's what I needed, a direct reference to the code, thank you. We performed a manual bleeding process last night and found air in the VCM. The ryde is still on the lift for its oil change but I'm hoping that solved it. If not, I'll be walking down your list and looking for the gremlin.
