YOUR BAD NEWS

It's 11:20 our time and I have to be up at 4:00am for work so I am calling it a night. We did get most of our stuff out of two of the basement rooms. I will just have to pay the workers for their time as I am out of my time and my knees will not take another set of steps.

I hope everyone else had as good a trip as Kathy ad I did and that the remaining members arrive home safe and sound without any unpleasant surprises!

The LPs themselves won't be hurt, but the album covers may well be shot. Was the value to you in the LP itself or the entire package as a collectible? If the latter then that really will be a loss. If the former give them a good cleaning and they'll be as good as the day they got wet. The labels on the LPs may even survive in decent shape.

I agree. I've had this problem. The LPs will be fine, they are surprisingly robust. If you don't have a record cleaning machine then a large bowl of luke warm soapy water and a soft cloth will clean them then put them under a tap (faucet) and gently run warm water over them. Stand them in a plate rack to dry.
The covers, even if very wet will air dry with only minimal damage. Don't be tempted to wipe them until they are dry. The inner sleeves may have to be replaced but these are still available. Obviously they aren't going to look like new but if they are irreplaceable then it's the best that can be done. A long and tedious job. Good luck! :thumbup:

Yes, Mike, it is the rainy season. August is the driest of the warm months.

I agree. I've had this problem. The LPs will be fine, they are surprisingly robust. Thanks for the input. I do have a record cleaning machine and the correct cleaning fluid as well as new sleeves.
I am sure that the records themselves will be fine as all are stored in record racks so no warpage, it's the covers that will take the damage. I have a selection of boxed RCA classical that was in mint condition!
Nothing can be done about it now. Just hoping that few are really damaged.

Home but needed more adventure Developed excess left fender vibration upon checking see that the connecting struct is broke into. Good news is pretty sure it's a warranty issue not so good news dealer is an open until tomorrow but the really good news is you can I am doing or where I broke down so getting ready to move into my motel room put my feet up i'm adventure time I am in Kelona BC couple hours from home

Mike that is why I selected July...my research said least rain and bugs in July....heck think counting the day we left Chelan we had close to 4 days without rain. I left Canmore this a.m. in rain...at Revelstoke sun came out and I shed 3 layers...NICE until the new adventure "happened"...read below!!!

OK little clarification. I am not home...got to Kelowna...on highway 97S...yep was feeling like I could ryde on into Chelan...then I hear this POP...and left front fender does the heeby/jeeby (good news it did not turn itself around!!!:roflblack::roflblack. Figured I had a flat...off to shoulder...nope tire still fluffed up....whoops there is the problem the "strut"...that is what I call it that secures the finder to the a arm snapped clean through...so I do what all good spyderryders do I dialed Ann & Joe...left message...started looking and discovered there is a Can Am Dealer in Kelowna....but not open on Monday...so got Motel room and I will be sitting on their doorstep come a.m. Ann & Joe call me...have a plan B...Joe told me how to remove fender...I'll strap to back seat and run home a little 'naked' on the left front. Good news it truly is just another adventure...heck could have been in the middle of the high mountains!!! Pretty sure it will be under warranty and their is a German restaurant close by...can't get much better..will keep you posted. OK WasWinger does that make more sense!! :roflblack::roflblack::thumbup:

You probably know this ,but.........take off any plastic wrap that is on the cardboard sleeves , I don't think they will ever dry before they get moldy otherwise.......good luck ray:ray:ray:..........Mike

Karyl, I know He told you how to ....just un-plug the lights from the fender under the " A " arm right ........plus ANN just told me you went during " RAINY " SEASON....:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:............and under been there done that....I broke all four of my fender supports on my 08 GS.....just not at once .....:dontknow:......Mike :thumbup:

Nothing like an adventure to finish up an adventure! You will have mostly smooth asphalt the rest of the way home, right? If it were me I'd go to the pharmacy and buy an aluminum finger splint and a roll of duct tape. Put the splint, straightened out of course, along the strut and wrap it up in duct tape. That is if it's not broken next to one end or the other. In that case a stop at the dealer is probably the wisest move, unless you can jerry rig a stick and duct tape to hold it up! :thumbup:

Remove. She can go home. Odds are, the dealer will not have the support in stock. Remove to safeguard it. The fender, remaining support, lights, fender shroud and hardware is hundreds of dollars! A splint, might fail, and the risk to the rest of the parts is too great. If the dealer has a guy who can weld it together to get home, maybe. Otherwise, remove, bungee to the back seat, and go home! Then get it replaced under warrantee! Joe

Yukon Roads

Still cleaning up the Spyder. Yukon dirt is like glue and darn hard to get off. Trailer latch re-welder and bearings replaced. All set for Al to take it to Sturgis this week. Spyder fenders seem to be still attached but rear tire looks like a racing slick.

Post Alaska

Put a new Arachnid rear tire on for SpyderAnn. Even wasting time looking for a new cotterpin, we had the wheel off her bike in 36 min, which includes removing the trailer hitch! After the new tire was installed, re-started the stopwatch, and had it buttoned up, ready to test ride in 57 min! 21 min to put back on, included a new slathering of anti-seize on both the axle and the trailer hitch axle. She had one fender light out (broken module wire) and one dim fender light on the other side (dirty ground connection). Replaced Two Brothers tip cap bolts (a couple went missing) and she gave it a good bath. Topped off coolant, and will change oil next. Might have to inspect air filter, already inspected brakes (ok for the next few thousand.) Then, Ready for more adventures!
