• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Beating a dead horse...?

OK, another oil question ... and it's NOT what's the best oil.

The manual says you can use oils other than the BRP-XPS oil if they are rated as API SL, SJ, SH and SG specification oils.

However, I can't find any 5w-40 oil with those API ratings without also having the SM rating included (Like Mobil 1), and the manual says not to use SM rated oil due to the clutch. So what full synthetic oil is available without the SM rating. I have a Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail XT that I can use Mobil 1 in, and I had hoped to use it in the Spyder also, but I see that it is rated SM, along with the other mentioned ratings.I just don't want to buy the BP XPS oil if there is something else that "fills the bill" ratings wise.

Suggestions ?

You're right, this horse has been beaten, resurrected, beaten some more, resurrected again, and beaten some more.....You'll find lots of oil threads if you use the search tab in the upper right.

:agree:
Besides; why don't you want to use the oil that BRP puts in at the factory? They're not going to dump anything into the engine that's going to buy them even ONE extra warranty claim... :dontknow:

You can use this: http://www.amsoil.com/lookup/motorcycle/2013/can-am/spyder-rt-limited-se5/998/us-volume/ and all will be well.

It does not void the warranty: http://www.amsoil.com/warrantysecure.aspx

I used the search and found NO answer to my question, that's why I asked it!

I have owned several spyders and currently have a 13rt limited and a 14 rt limited. I have run amsoil 10-40 motorcycle in all of them and nary a problem ever. well satisified. ps. I also use amsoil in every vehicle that I own, which is 7.

Me Too. I spent about 10 minutes finding some additional threads for you. Oil seems to be to generic for the search function. I can usually make the search engine find me what I am looking for. :gaah:

That you are...

If in doublt..use the oil that came in the machine. Have nit seen or heard of an oil related problem using XPS. I use the blend and have for years....

I have never seen a post related to a Motor or Transmission failure due to an oil related issue. Any oil, any weight any mileage, anything. Dump in what you want (as long as it meets BRP specifications) and ride.:gaah:

It would have taken less time to simply type:

I use Brand "X" and have never had an issue.

I've been using Castrol 5w40 Power RS Racing 4T full synthetic oil for almost 23K miles now. No problems at all. In the beginning I was just looking for an oil that I could buy locally and that is why I went with the Castrol. I can't confirm it but I have read many times that Castrol makes all of BRP's oils and lubes.
