• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well, 28,000 miles and I wore it out...:banghead: felt a buzz vibration (peg area) on the last few rydes so finally shut her down and coasted in silence only to hear a slight knuckle grinding. Put her up, checked belt tension and alignment the front sproket torque and sadly found it loose. Backed the bolt out and found it suspicious...

then peered at the shaft and sproket..not good

after finally, using a puller, getting the sproket off got a better look. Did have some rusty dust to clean away found the shaft is in good shape but the sproket is shot...

About $120.00 worth, should be back on the road this weekend.
So word of caution...this is why we check the torque on that sproket. This was not very noticable and I caught it soon enough (I hope)..

 Thank Goodness, that the output shaft looked so good!
Glad to hear that you caught it, before it got really ugly; let us know how it all goes back together!

BELT TENSION

I have had serious concerns about the BRP belt tension levels, and that's why mine are 100 lbs less on the KIRKIT .....Mike

During each of last several oil changes, I've loosened the drive shaft bolt, and retorqued it.
so far so good, with 32,000 miles

I re-torqued but felt the bolt getting soft.(may be the cause) They recommend replacing it if the sproket is ever removed. I would order a new one with washer for the next time you you re-torque it...:lecturef_smilie:

Wow, I guess this is something to watch and check from time to time.

How many miles do you have on it?

I recall reading somewhere that the 2011 RT's and up have a dampened pulley because of this issue?

Bob

Your shaft splines look good. New pulley and bolt, you're back in business.

I don't retorque every oil change. I have a paint mark on the bolt, washer and pulley. Check to see if they are still lined up every oil change.
