Currently 65 here in the desert. Very light breeze with the humidity at 16%. The sky is blue with a few high thin clouds. Today's forecast high is 78 and the overnight low will be 55. Very enjoyable weather for December. Saw parts of a football game being played in Miami yesterday. I agree with Gwolf. Sure looked like a tropical storm to me too. Stay safe..... Jim

it is currently 41 degrees and raining, here in Vermont.

They have flood watches out in my area.

Also, they have Wind Advisories out.

Some places in Vermont hit the 60 degrees today.

Deanna

Currently, 44 degrees and sunny. A cool edge to the air. The nylon windbreaker did not do its job. Time to get out the polar fleece hoody. No snow on the ground here at the moment.

The current temp is 45 degrees, and it is still raining.

Here we go AGAIN in Vermont!

Several of the Vermont towns and roads are flooded due to the rain and the melting snowpack.

This morning several of the Vermont Schools had to close due to the flooding. Also, some of the towns requested the residents to evacuate; while others told residents to have their personal bags ready and their cars loaded in case they had to evacuate and move to higher ground.

Some of the cities opened up shelters (the shelters were opened up by the Red Cross) for people to go to when they were evacuated. They temporarily closed a store in my area due to flooding.

Vermont does not need this AGAIN!

It was like July in December on this Monday......... But not all in a good way. The powerful storm system that came up the east coast hammered us with way too much rain. Combined with record high temps in the 50's and 60's, which melted a lot of the snow already on the ground, we ended up with a widespread flooding issues- not what anyone wants this week before Christmas.

The storm will be quickly moving out during the evening hours and taking the last of the rain along with it. Then the second part of the storm will swing through as we get into the day on Tuesday. That part of the storm is much weaker, but it has colder air with a few snow showers. And snow will only amount to a dusting to around 3" in some of the higher elevations by the end of Tuesday.

After that, we are looking at a nice stretch of weather that is going to last right through Christmas. Each day for the rest of the week and through the weekend will feature lots of sunshine and near normal temps, it will just be a little colder than normal for that first day of winter on Thursday and also on Friday. Then temps rebound as we get into the holiday weekend.

And it looks like we will finally break that pattern of getting a big storm system every Sunday and Monday like we have the last 4 weeks. This time around, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are looking just fine.

I am safe and OK.

:coffee:...I got up early this morning and it was 'bone chilling' Weather. 19°F with the wind chill at 10°F. The rain Showers yesterday produced a 30 minute snow shower for us here in Indiana.
No Snow on the ground now, but it was beautiful big fluffy flakes. Nice to see but thankfully no real issues..

You people in the flood areas be safe and Stay warm. .....
Hopefully everyone will make it through this issue. .... 🙏

Today is going to be another cold one. Currently we have clear sky and 18°F.
High of 35°F with sunshine.
Low of 26°F. No rain in the forecast.

Stay Healthy and Enjoy your Day. ....
Merry Christmas to you.

It's grey and cold (for us) today here in the desert. Currently the temperature is 63 and we're having very light sprinkles. Enough to make spots on the windows but not enough to make the street look wet. Today's high will get to 73. We should see some sunshine this afternoon. It looks like we'll have this same weather for the next couple of days. Then Friday the weather gurus are predicting a very wet day. Saw news reports of that ugly storm in the NE. Y'all stay safe! ..... Jim

Currently the temp is 28 degrees, and mostly cloudy.

As we dry out and cool down, flood waters will continue to recede. The few snow showers that were scattered about during the day will come to an end and will be clearing as we go through the overnight hours. We'll keep those clear skies going with a lot of sunshine through most of the day on Wednesday - the last full day of fall. A week cold front dropping down from the north late in the day will kick up some clouds with just slight chance of a few flurries.

That cold front will chill us down for the first day of winter on Thursday, even though there will be lots of sunshine. Thursday night will be particularly cold with lot of places dropping into the single digits by Friday morning. More cool sunshine is on tap for Friday.

Temps will rebound as we get into the weekend. A weak disturbance on Saturday may scatter just a few snow showers. Otherwise, it will stay dry with warmer than average temps right through Christmas Day.

***** They still have flood warnings out. The current flood warning was issued on December 19th @ 12:39 PMEST until Dec. 20th @ 8:23 AM EST.

Flood Warning now in effect until Tomorrow Morning....

What.......... Major flooding is occurring, and major flooding is forecast.

Where...... Winooski River at Essex Junction
When....... Until Tomorrow Morning.

Last night in my area they closed a bridge due to flooding.

There are several roads are closed due to flooding. ******

I am safe!

Merry Christmas to everyone!

:coffee:...Well folks this month has had the coldest temperatures and the warmest for an Indiana for a handful of years. Currently we have overcast sky and 29°F. No rain in the forecast and no snow on the ground. Today is the start of Winter here arriving at 2:00pm. So tomorrow will be the first full day of Winter. (12/21/23) Just in case you wanted to know.

Today we will have a little bit of a warm up. High of 47°F with sunshine and lots of blue sky.
Low down to 28°F. You got to love it.
Stay Safe and Enjoy your Day.
Christmas is only five days away.

Praying for you guys in the area of flooding issues. ....

Stay in the Game and Happy Holidays to all. .....

The current temp in Vermont is 30 degrees, and mostly cloudy.

We will be continuing our stretch of much-needed dry weather in the wake of the recent flooding.

A weak cold front will be dropping down from the north during the first part of the night. It will kick up some clouds and there will be just a slight chance for a few flurries. Once that front clears the area down to my south (southern part of Vermont), skies will clear out again for the rest of the overnight. But we be in a colder batch of air. Despite lots of sunshine on Thursday, temps will come up shy of normal by 5 or more degrees.

Winter will officially begin at 10:27 PM EST when the winter solstice occurs.

Thursday night/Friday morning will be particularly cold lows in the single digits and low teens.

It will continue to stay colder than normal for Friday, even though there will, again be lots of sunshine.

Temps will be moderating over the weekend, getting back into the 30's for highs on Saturday, then upper 30's and low 40's by Christmas Eve on Sunday. A weak disturbance may bring just a few snow showers late Saturday into early Sunday.

Santa may need to replace the snow runners on his sleigh with wheels as it does not look like a white Christmas for most of us. And temps will be in the low-to-mid 40's for highs.

After that, temps will be staying mild, and a frontal system will bring the chance for more December rain showers late Tuesday into Wednesday.

**** We don't have any more flood or high wind warnings as of today (12/20/2023).

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Stay healthy and safe everyone!

(off topic, my sled is getting restless)!

Currently 53 above at 4.47 PM. Today is the shortest day of the year. Happy first day of winter.

Tomorrow a slight warm up and Saturday, how does 67 degrees sound with some rain showers ???

High 50's for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The current temp here in Vermont is 18 degrees & clear.

It will be officially winter at 10:27 PM EST Thursday. And the first morning of the first full day of winter on Friday will be the coldest on of the season yet so far. Most places will start out in the single digits and low teens. Some of the usual cold pockets may drop below zero.

The rest of Friday will look good with lots of sunshine, but temps will still be on the chilly side. At least it won't be very windy like it was on Thursday, so it won't feel quite as cold.

Then the temps will take a good hop over the weekend, getting back into the 30's for highs on Saturday, and upper 30's and low 40's on Sunday. There may be a few flurries late Saturday into early Sunday, but they won't amount to much.

By Christmas Day, it is going to be feeling like Spring, with highs getting into the mid 40's. Santa may have to loosen the collar on his overcoat.

After that, a frontal system will be bringing the chance of rain showers by late Tuesday. Rain showers will be a good bet on Wednesday. Colder air will seep back in on Thursday, so some of those rain showers may end up as snow showers, but nothing major.

Friday 12/22/23

:coffee:....Welcome and Good Morning to you. I woke up to a cloudy sky and 43°F. This is warm for this time of year here in Indiana. Normally we would have about 28°F. Hey, I will take it and be happy. By the way it is the season of Winter here.

I hope all the people who are in flood areas are staying safe. Not a problem here in Indiana.
Be Safe and Enjoy your Day. Christmas is only 3 days away. Enjoy some time with your family and friends. Jesus is the Reason for the Season. Here's hoping for a Blessed Day for you.

High today of 49°F and mostly cloudy. Chance of some afternoon rain showers.
Better a little rain than snow or ice.
Low at 43°F. Possibly get some evening rain.

Slow down and Enjoy the Season of Christmas.
Ryde if you can and Stay Healthy. ....

It's a hot coco kinda day here in the desert. Started raining in the middle of the night and continues on and off (mostly on) all morning. The high will be 60 and the overnight low will be 50. The rain is expected to let up later this afternoon. The wind is at 8-10 MPH. Wet, cool winter day in the desert. We'll be back to sunshine tomorrow. Stay safe..... Jim

December 23 - 24, 2023

:coffee:....Welcome to the WEEKEND, currently 45°F with rain showers. Yesterday was a beautiful day with some sunshine mixed up with some clouds. Enjoyed a visit with my mom who is 96 years old now. It was a good time and she was happy.

Today we will have morning rain showers.
High of 51°F here. A mostly cloudy sky.
Low at 46°F. No snow in the forecast for Indiana.

Sunday they are saying the high should be 59°F.
Mostly cloudy with a little sunshine on the side.
Low of 48°F. Still no snow here.

Merry Christmas to you. Be Safe and Stay Healthy. ....

The expected break in the wet weather didn't happen here in the desert (yet). It's been a wet couple of days. Most areas in the valley (Of The Sun) received 2 inches so far and some places have had more than twice that amount. Currently it's cloudy with just a few light sprinkles off and on. The high will be 58 today. The wind is very light, maybe 2-3 MPH. Overnight low will be in the mid 40s. The clouds are expected to move out of the valley this evening. I need to pick up a few last minute things from the grocery store today. Waiting for things to dry out. Sure wouldn't want to take the car out and get it all dirty from wet roads! ;) Stay safe..... Jim

The current temp in VT. is 30 degrees, mostly cloudy.

A weakening trough will bring light snow and freezing rain, mainly in New York tonight. Up to a tenth of inch of ice is possible in New York, especially the Saint Lawrence Valley, so use caution if you must travel overnight. In Vermont and New Hampshire, and snow or freezing rain will be lighter and much more scattered, so impacts are expected to be minimal. To be safe, slow down even if you're traveling in those areas. By early Christmas Eve morning, any snow or freezing rain will be isolated.

Christmas Eve will be cloudy, with just an isolated shower possible south. Highs will be in the 30's to around 40 degrees. For Christmas Day, it will be good news and bad news with the weather. Those hoping for a White Christmas will be disappointed, as it will be dry with highs in the mid 40's. On the other hand, those same conditions will be great if you have travel plans, including any for Tuesday. Some spots on Tuesday may reach 50 degrees.

The rest of the week will be active, with showers likely Wednesday and Thursday. A few rivers may rise a bit, but this won't be anything like the big rain event last Monday.
Friday is more uncertain, as models differ, but additional showers are possible and a few inches of snow aren't out of the question. Saturday will be colder, with snow showers expected. Highs will be back in the upper 20's and low 30's.
