Your Spyder should steer THIS EASY!

I just have to say... This video is self explanatory!

If yours does not steer this easy on an open road.... GET IT FIXED!

Now I am sure I will get all kinds of comments from this.

AND NO... My Spyder was not laser aligned or anything! 8300 miles and this is the way it has always driven for me!

Am I lucky? Maybe.... All I can say is THIS IS WHY I LOVE RIDING MY SPYDER!

YES... it should be THAT EASY!

I hate you! (envy speaking)

Mine may be that easy now, after the laser alignment but I really have not tried it.

By the way, from the other post, I love your videos. Please never stop making them.

Yes, our STS now steers straight as an arrow after the laser align Spyder Ann and Joe worked on it in Camano Island, Wa.
Looking forward to have them align the RT also in SITR (Eureka, next month).

Let me just say...

IT IS ASHAME you have to go spend money to get laser aligned on a new purchase of a Spyder because it is not right when you ride it out the door!

Mine is perfect to be honest and maybe BRP is mostly right on this.....

But I have posted this on Facebook and so far everyone said "mine does this after getting laser aligned".

That's cool and all but when I buy a new car... I expect it to be aligned out the door!

AM I missing something here? WTF!:banghead:

I am glad mine is good... but I would be pissed off if I road out the door and then had to go to a 3rd party to get it to ride right!
Or am I just stupid here?

Factory guide lines. If it doesn't throw codes. It's aligned.

:yikes: U R verwee lucky :spyder2: owner.

Yep mine is brandy new and needs an alignment!!

Just picked it up yesterday and it pulls slightly to the left if I let go.... I'll get it done at Spyderquest...

Our Spyders have always been fingertip control except for a bad period when I decided to rotate the front tires.

That was a major mistake that I will not make again.

Could be as simple as an imbalance in the air pressures of the two front tires. That will cause it to pull. My Spyder needed the alignment but tracking straight was not an issue even before the alignment. I believe others did have a problem tracking straight before an alignment.

:agree: Mine was ALMOST that good before the laser alignment but drifted a little. Now it is on rails. I was showing my wife on a slightly crowned road by clapping my hands above my head with her on the back. I could use my finger tips now but always could just lay my hands on it with no grip with just a touch of adjustment.

Not Luck

I don't think it is luck at all. We have always been able to ryde like this, we don't for safety reasons but as a result of the straight tracking the amount of input from the Ryder is minimal resulting in a much more relaxing ryde. Frankly I credit our dealer for making sure that our roadster was set up right from the start.:yes::clap:

:agree: My 2012 RT SE5 steer the same way and I always keep it on auto steer.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:I even did " look mom no hands"

Does your "instructor" approve...

Finless, clearly you need an alignment since you have to ride with one hand. I can go no handed for great lengths at 80 mph.

lol...does Joe, with the instructor hat on, approve or he just doesn't know!!!! that you are out there doing your nails while you ryde!!! at 80 mph

I don't want to jinx it....

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones too! I got my '12 RTL about 18 months and 5500 miles ago and it's always been that way. I'm riding 1 handed a great deal of the time and that's just so I don't fall off! :) If it weren't for the terrible roads I'd likely just set the cruise, put my feet on the bars and kick back for a while!;)

Anne, at the start of the video I was no hands but you could not tell.

I can in fact go no hands unless it is windy which it was. Here in So Cal we always have afternoon winds of about 10 knots. In the morning I can go no hands for quite some time!
What happens is with no hands I get a wind push or buffet and have to adjust. So the one finger was needed to correct very slightly for the buffets. Nothing more.

I bet if you were to put the lasers on, no adjustment would be needed. Do you still offer that? e.g. no adjustment no pay?

Bob

Well, I guess the video is living proof for our argument that you should not over control the :spyder2:. As little input as possible and :ani29: will track good.

Lots of pro and con over the laser alignment. Can't get it done here (Alaska) so out of luck.

I do believe the :spyder2: should come from the factory properly aligned. $25K - $30K for a machine--should include a proper alignment.

Based on what we have heard for the vendors--about 95% of the new :spyder2:'s are a bit out of whack. I have learned to watch my tire pressures and examine the tires often.

Yes, I would take advantage of a laser alignment if it was available. Would like the "no need-no charge" option though. :roflblack:

Don't remember if I tried this with my 2010 RS, but my 2012 RT had a sight pull if I let go of the handle bars. Now with the 2014 test bike I kept my hands on the grip at all times because of the pull.

:agree: for the money we pay the alignment should be good, and even more for a BRP test bike :roflblack:
