• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. What are you getting for MPG on a ST, RT etc...
Someone told me they have a 4 gal tank on a 2011 RT and can't go 110 miles.

I normally got just a touch less than 33 mpg with my 2010 RT...
A high of almost 38mpg, and a low of 28 mpg...
I did find that highway speeds over 65mph really sucked the tank dry quickly

25mpg +-2 with 2500mi on a 2013RT. I might get a little better on a long ride but around town I have a hard time not twisting the go handle...especially if there is a Harley nearby :roflblack:

RE: Fuel tanks. All :spyder2:'s have a 6.6 gallon tank with usable space at about 5.8 or so. The new 2014 RT has a 6.9 gallon tank.

I get about 30-31 mpg on every :ani29: I have owned. Two RS versions and two RT versions. My high mpg has been 35 and my low mpg has been 28.

The numbers do vary because there are a LOT of variables involved.

on 2010 RT SE5

Loaded and traveling (I'm on the throttle and sometimes windshield up) I average 33.2 Drop the windshield and get off the throttle I've averaged 35+ These numbers started after 5000 miles...before that, guess break in stage...3-4 mpg less.

It is amazing what people will say. This person is 0 for 2 and clearly has no clue what they are talking about.

MANY VARIABLES

MANY MANY VARIABLES....

Type of SPYD3R: RS or RT...
Number on board...
Total load being carried...
Terrain...
Elevation...
Weather...
Heavy Right Hand...

I checked my MPG during my ride from SC to UT last May... here in SC, we have 87 Octane... west of TX it's 88 octane... on my 4804 mile ride, my '09 RS averaged 33 mpg... my best was 37 mpg, worse was 31 mpg... I rode solo, and only carried luggage and gifts for family upon my return... none of which weighed more than 30 lbs, I weigh in @ 250 lbs... we rode on flat n straight, to curvy n twistees... hot, cold, 500 ft. elevation to 9500 ft. elevation... wet n dry...

and i have never heard of any SPYD3R with less than a 6.6 gal. gas tank... (i could b wrong however...)

6.6 gal is the spec per the book. I tried to do it from memory because its a long walk to the garage to get the manual out of the RT.

Although the fuel tank capacity (except for the 2014 RT) is 6.6 gallons, only 6.0 is usable capacity. The low fuel light comes on with about 1.4 gallons left, more or less. If you get 30 mpg, you will see the fuel light at about 138 miles. If you get 25 mpg you should see it around 115 miles. Filling the tank is a little tricky. It needs to be filled by hand (not automatic) with the nozzle inserted just a little bit. Fill slowly and stop as soon as the nozzle kicks off. You can top it off a little to make sure, but stop for sure the second time it kicks off. Filling fast can fail to fill a small tank. Inserting the nozzle too far makes the pump kick off too quickly, resulting in an incomplete fill. Filling fast or trying to fill clear to the top can force gas into the emissions canister, causing gas fumes, a fire hazard, and wasting the gas which cannot then be used by the engine.

There you go...!!

from 25 to 38 mpg..where you end up will depend on a lot of things. This is the same range we get on our RS with an average of 33 mpg. The constant is the capasity of the tank 6.6 gal. If you search past threads you can find all the variables...

I average 29.5 but have gotten as much as 32 before on my 2009 GS but I really couldn't careless because I like to stop about every 100-110 miles anyways  I have gone just a bump over 150 miles on a tank once and was sweating bb's looking for a gas station haha

25 to 30 usally have low fuel on at 110 sometimes at 90 guess im one of the unlucky ones even at 9200 miles still no improvement, but I love my spyder anyway :f_spider:

One of the main factors in distance is that most people do not fill their tank. People are afraid to top off and that will usually cost you between 1/2 and 1 gallon of fuel capacity. I usually get about 25 miles before my top fuel block goes away (It is a wedge on the GS/RS). Some don't even know there is a wedge block at the top of the fuel gauge because they've never filled their Spyder enough for it to register.

The '08 GS usually got 33, high of 38.5, low of 26. The low was at 75 mph with a really bad head wind. The RT has been fairly steady at 31.5.
