• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Finally I am the proud owner of a 2011 RS SM5 Canam Spyder in white , and I can now hold my head up in your company , rather than muttering stuff , not really knowing how it relates to these wonderful machines .
First thoughts as the delivery guy unloaded her was wow ! bigger than I thought , drew quite a crowd too , mainly people asking what it was .
Also there were quite a number of rusty fasteners for a bike that has only got just over three and a half thousand miles on the clock , and the rear edge of the rack is blistering as is the drivers alloy foot peg brackets , corrosion under the paint it seems , no problem though , I have already started swapping out the nasty nuts and bolts for nice stainless steel ones , I can always strip and re paint or polish the other parts .
What is the deal with the key ? nowhere to put my key ring :(
Apart from that yipeeeeeeeeeeee !:yes::yes::yes::yes:
Pictures to follow .

:2thumbs: Glad to hear that it's finally in your position! :ohyea:  Time for the "spinnin' & grinnin'" to begin...

:congrats: I'm so happy for you. Where did you buy it - from the previous owner or a dealer? I wonder if it had been kept outside by the seaside, where it could get salt corrosion?

Anyway, you seem to have it in hand and now you can let the grins begin! :D:)

Thanks everyone , actually from a dealer up north , so yea , seaside is a good shout , never thought of that ,
Good old sea air eh ? goodness knows what that stuff does to your lungs .

Congrats on your new machine. As for the key you should have received a key condom. If not you can order one from the BRP catalog

Enjoy the nice country side over there. Would loved to have one when I lived there but that was before the spyders were thought of.

Congratulations

As for the key for two years I use the key condom on a lanyard the last year of use Lamonts IPS adapter..

A new Spyder comes with two keys and two key sheaths. I'd highly recommend both. Your dealer will have to program the extra key, using your existing key. If you have that kind of external corrosion, check carefully under the skin. Corrosion and alloy parts don't get along well.

Hey Mike! Well done!! WHITE!! Mine's white too! Only it's a 2010 RS-S SE5.
But to the uneducated observer an identical machine! Let the farkling commence!!
First thing is a BajaRon Sway bar (anti-roll bar) which makes things ever so much nicer!
According to the good folks here it's the most cost effective mod that you can do!!
All the best from sunny Kent!!

PS The last owner's details will be on the log sheet....should tell you enough about
the premature corrosion.

Welcome Mike. If you're not a mechanic create a good strong relationship with your dealer. It will prove to be invaluable.

And the guys here are very helpful too. Now get out there and ride! And send pictures!

Bill

Welcome..!!

Great news..know how the waits are..that part is over now the real fun begins..you know your behind some of our nuts have farkles before the bike arrives..get a move on and pic's please...:ohyea:

With the past history of corrosion on your machine I would pay particular attention to cleaning up the following areas, fuse connections, relay connections and the battery terminals. Both areas can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins if corroded or loose.
