Just finished day 2 of riding Yellowstone.....amazingly wonderful. Today started out with 4 layers of clothing and 38 degrees. By the 8th hour of ryding I was down to 1 layer and 92 degrees..by the 11th hour and in room looked like one of Lamont's raccoons. So put on your ryde list.:yes:

Happy Ridn'

That is one of the places that is on my bucket list. I remember a similar situation when we visited the Grand Canyon. The morning temps were in the 30s and by mid day the 80s.

Hey Murphy...........lookin' forward to more reports.:2thumbs: We are heading there beginning Sept. 15th so I quess we will pack for the multiple temps. Good thing that we will be pulling the RT622 so we have plenty of room.

Was there a few weeks ago

Several years ago Judy and I where in Yellowstone and we thought someday we like to ride to Yellowstone on a motorcycle. So
we did a few weeks ago. One of the best rides ever done. That 50 miles from Cody, WY to Yellowstone is one ride you need to
do. Enjoy your trip!

Mid sept might even bring snow at the higher elevations. There are 3 rydes suggested by park. Excellent for "doing" park. Take lower loop to Cody. Awesome museum there. Beartooth hi way 212 and. Also 296 incredible...the Nez Perce were one tough people. Have a great trip . I saw 4 spyders yesterday. Today will walk streets of W Yellowstone. 2 days of ryding 11+ hrs with arms and face that match a cooked lobster (except coon eyes from sunglasses)..calls for r n r...

Any chance you could do a fairly comprehensive "ride-report" when you are done?

I know a lot of others would like to see something like that from others that have been there to see what the pro's and con's are.

You know... what to make sure you ride and see; and what to avoid (including any hotels, campgrounds, roads and etc).

Thanks in advance if you do! ;)

There are several threads about Yellowstone, with video too (mine is one). I can't say enough about the trip.

We spent three days riding in the park, and one day taking the Cody to Cooke City loop, another "must do".

When we were there, we saw several Spyders on the road, and one group in our cabin area - farmers from Georgia. The group shipped their Spyders to Denver, and rode from there, returned to Denver, and had their Spyders shipped home. They were all on RSs, and were all over my RT - I suspect, from the comments, they all have RTs now.

Temperatures and altitudes change A LOT in the park. You really can have frost in the morning and bake in the afternoon, hit brief T-storms, or even brief light snow (early or late in the season) - but you can also cross the continental divide twice on the same road!! Take some basics stuff, if you stay in the Cabins - coffee, something to heat it with, and a collapsable chair (all of this takes a small space in my top case - far less than a gallon gas can. Also, either carry a full cover, or park in a covered trailer (like we did) to keep the Spyder safe & dry.

I've done Glacier, Waterton, Zion, Yosemite, Jasper, and Yellowstone on a bike, and only the Road to the Glaciers (Jasper) exceeds Yellowstone.

Thanks, all -----

Headed out to Wyoming in 10 days to ride the Tetons and see Yellowstone. Your comments have been helpful. I'll hit you up with some pix and some comments upon return.:2thumbs:

Check out our site: http://TagAlongTrips.com
we just got back from our Yellowstone trip

You might want to check out a heated vest!!! It could eliminate a couple of layers. Several years ago we were there at the beginning of August and woke up to frost on our vehicle...it made for some beautiful photos of the steam coming off the hot springs! This is definitely a trip I'd love to do on the Spyders. Thanks for your great posts, Murphybrown

Yellowstone in September

Be ready for snow in September in Yellowstone. I was there mid July once and woke up to a couple of inches of snow.

I agree about Yellowstone

I completely agree about Yellowstone... it's an absolute MUST for any Spyder ryder. I trailered mine there in June 2010 when my RT-S PE was brand new. We had heat, cold, rain, and snow all in 2 days... plus some buffalo snot... you WILL be stopped by herds of buffalo at some point in the park.:yikes: Also, you WILL be stopped by busloads of tourists with questions about your bike!
